ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports the Angels are listening on starting pitcher Hector Santiago.

And several clubs have already inquired, per Crasnick's sources. Santiago is sporting a career-worst 4.32 ERA in 110 1/3 innings this season, but the 28-year-old left-hander managed a sharp 3.55 ERA in 532 2/3 innings between 2011 and 2015. He is eligible for arbitration for the third and final time in 2017.

Brewers recalled OF Keon Broxton from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Broxton will rejoin the Brew Crew ahead of Monday night's series opener against the Diamondbacks. The 26-year-old outfielder has batted just .125/.253/.188 in 75 plate appearances this season at the MLB level.
Jul 25 - 1:59 PM

Brewers placed 3B Will Middlebrooks on the 15-day disabled list with a right lower leg strain.

Middlebrooks suffered the injury on Sunday afternoon against the Cubs. He has batted just .111 (3-for-27) since his promotion to the major league level on July 3.
Jul 25 - 1:57 PM

Phillies prospect Roman Quinn played five innings of center field Monday in the Gulf Coast League.

It was the first minor league rehab game for Quinn, who landed on the disabled list at Double-A Reading in mid-June with a left oblique strain. The 23-year-old top-100 prospect was batting .288/.361/.420 with three home runs and 25 stolen bases in 50 games this season at the Double-A level.

According to MLB.com's Richard Justice, the Astros are hopeful Yulieski Gurriel will secure a work visa this week.

That would keep him on track to make his major league debut sometime in mid-to-late August, assuming he can get back up to speed quickly in the minor leagues. The 32-year-old Cuban signed a five-year, $47.5 million contract with Houston last week. He is expected to play third base and first base in the majors. It's probably worth nothing that top prospect Alex Bregman is making his MLB debut at the hot corner on Monday night against the Yankees.
Jul 25 - 1:26 PM

Alex Bregman is starting at third base and batting sixth Monday in his MLB debut.

MLB.com's Richard Justice expects that Bregman will play left field on Tuesday and DH on Wednesday. His primary spot will probably be third base, but the 22-year-old top prospect is athletic enough to handle just about any position on the diamond. He was slashing .306/.406/.580 with 20 home runs and 61 RBI in 80 games this season between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Fresno.
Jul 25 - 1:10 PM

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Cubs will not have a contract extension in place with Aroldis Chapman when their trade for the closer becomes official.

They tried hard, as did the Yankees before agreeing to this five-player swap, but Chapman is apparently intent on testing the free agent waters following the 2016 season. He is headed to the Cubs in exchange for shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres, outfield prospect Billy McKinney, right-hander Adam Warren, and minor league outfielder Rashad Crawford. Chapman will take over at closer on the north side of Chicago, with Hector Rondon moving to a setup role.
Jul 25 - 12:49 PM

Rashad Crawford is the fourth player headed to the Yankees in the Aroldis Chapman trade.

The other three are shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres, outfielder prospect Billy McKinney, and right-hander Adam Warren. Crawford, 22, has batted .255/.327/.386 with three home runs and 22 stolen bases in 83 games this season at High-A Myrtle Beach. He was an 11th-round pick in 2012. This trade should be finalized within the hour.
