Browns waived G/T Garrett Gilkey.
Gilkey was a seventh-round pick out of Chadron State last year. He'd primarily been playing guard this summer. Gilkey had a solid preseason finale, but it wasn't enough to save his job as a versatile backup. He has good size at 6'6/315.
Panthers waived WR Tavarres King.
King was thought to be the favorite for situational deep threat duties after Tiquan Underwood was released. He had a solid preseason opener, but followed it up with three lackluster efforts. King will likely get another shot on a receiver-needy team thanks to his 4.40 wheels and 6'1/200 size.
Packers released CB Ryan White, RB Michael Hill and T John Fullington.
An undrafted rookie out of Auburn, White is a candidate for the Packers' practice squad. Hill is a second-year UDFA out of Missouri Western State.
Giants waived QB Curtis Painter.
Ryan Nassib wins the No. 2 QB job in New York with a surprisingly solid preseason. Nassib completed 44-of-74 passes for 588 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in five exhibition games. Painter is an uninspiring backup, but he may get a look.
Giants released FB John Conner.
Conner was competing with Henry Hynoski. Conner hasn't done much since being nicknamed "The Terminator" by Rex Ryan on Hard Knocks in 2010.
Redskins waived or released S Phillip Thomas, K Zach Hocker, CB Chase Minnifield, WR Nick Williams, and OLB Everette Brown.
Thomas was the 119th pick in last year's draft. He couldn't stay on the field. Thomas missed his entire rookie season with a Lisfranc fracture and was battling a less serious injury to the same foot this summer. It's sad he couldn't overtake Brandon Meriweather at strong safety. Hocker was a seventh-round pick in May. Brown is the former 43rd overall pick of the 2009 draft.
Ravens released or waived C/G A.Q. Shipley, OG Ryan Jensen, RB Fitz Toussaint, and QB Keith Wenning.
Shipley made nine starts, one at center and eight at left guard, last season. He was competing for a backup job. Jensen was given a shot to play right tackle in the spring, but it didn't pan out. Wenning is a practice squad candidate.
Redskins waived or released RB Lache Seastrunk, RB Chris Thompson and RB Evan Royster.
All three lost out to UDFA Silas Redd for the No. 3 running back job behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu. Seastrunk has practice squad eligibility, and will likely be stashed there if he clears waivers. Thompson has an intriguing enough skill set that he might get a look if healthy.
