Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk Saturday against the Marlins.

Harper has homered in both games since missing Thursday's contest with a stomach virus. Aided by his 12 walks, he's sporting a fine .278/.458/.556 line in 36 at-bats for the spring.

Chase Headley went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI to lead the Yankees to a 7-0 win over the Astros on Sunday.

Headley hit second today, which is something he's done frequently with Jacoby Ellsbury out. Before Ellsbury was hurt, the plan was to bat Headley sixth or seventh this season. We think he makes quite a bit more sense at the top of the order, in part because he can help break up the lefties, but he'll probably still bat lower if Ellsbury returns for the opener as planned.

Nathan Eovaldi fanned five in 4 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday against the Astros.

Eovaldi had been doing his work in minor league games, so this was his first start in 14 days. He's certainly pitched well in his spring appearances, allowing one run over 13 2/3 innings and posting a 14/0 K/BB ratio. We certainly liked his fantasy potential better than Miami than in New York, but the Yankees aren't going to regret trading Martin Prado for him.

Brad Peacock gave up four runs -- three earned -- over two-thirds of an inning in his spring debut Sunday against the Yankees.

Peacock is being brought along slowly after hip surgery, and he'll spend the first month of the season on a rehab assignment in the minors. If he does well, he could join the Astros rotation afterwrds.

Chase Utley hit a pair of homers and walked Sunday as the Phillies and Tigers played to a 4-4 tie.

The homers off Anibal Sanchez were the first he's hit this spring. Utley, though, hasn't played as much as most, partly because of a sprained ankle and partly because he doesn't really need to. He's batting .423 in 26 at-bats.
Mar 29 - 4:40 PM

Despite striking out 10, Anibal Sanchez gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings Sunday against the Phillies.

Sanchez surrendered three homers, two of them off the bat of Chase Utley, on a day in which the wind wasn't much of a factor. He's given up six homers in 24 2/3 innings overall this spring, an especially high total for a Florida pitcher.
Mar 29 - 4:38 PM

Yoenis Cespedes went 2-for-4 and hit his fourth homer against the Phillies on Sunday.

Despite minor quad and back injuries costing him time earlier this month, Cespedes has four homers in 49 at-bats this spring. Unfortunately, it looks like he'll open the season batting sixth in the Detroit lineup. We hope that will change at some point, but he'll suffer in runs scored until it does.

X-Rays came back negative on the hand and wrist of L.J. Hoes on Sunday.

Hoes was drilled by a pitch in Saturday's Cactus League contest, but luckily avoided and breaks in either his hand or his wrist. He should be able to return to the lineup in a couple of days once the swelling subsides.
