An MRI taken Monday on C.J. Wilson's left arm showed no new damage.

That's nice news, but the veteran left-hander remains shut down indefinitely with elbow soreness. Wilson was initially placed on the disabled list in early April with shoulder inflammation, and then he developed biceps tendinitis during his rehab. He might not throw a pitch at the major league level in 2016, unless something changes soon.

Luke Gregerson notched his 13th save of the season on Tuesday against Arizona.

Gregerson was called upon to squelch a Diamondbacks rally in the ninth inning. Arizona had already scored two runs off Scott Feldman on a Jean Segura double. Gregerson entered and promptly struck out three batters in a row, including Paul Goldschmidt to preserve the victory for the Astros.

George Springer blasted his 12th longball of the season on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Springer’s monster game saw him go 3-for-4 with the home run, four RBI, and two runs scored. He was also hit by a pitch but escaped unharmed. The Astros slugger now sports a strong .288/.376/.509 slash line on the season.
May 31 - 7:25 PM

Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored on Tuesday versus the Astros.

The three hits boosted his batting average to .269, which is 30 points below his career average. Goldschmidt has not quite been the fantasy beast we have witnessed over the last few years, but he is a good bet to be one of the most elite hitters in baseball over the rest of the season.

R.J. Alvarez (elbow) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Friday with High-A Stockton.

Alvarez underwent arthroscopic surgery in March to remove bone chips from his right elbow. He will probably spend over two weeks pitching in minor league games before the A's consider him a bullpen option.
May 31 - 7:21 PM

Angels sent INF Brendan Ryan outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ryan was designated for assignment by Anaheim over the weekend after going hitless with six strikeouts in 12 plate appearances. He is a .233/.293/.314 career hitter.
May 31 - 7:17 PM

Dodgers designated INF/OF Alex Guerrero for assignment.

Guerrero's 20-day minor league rehab assignment came to an end on Sunday and the Dodgers don't currently have a spot for the 29-year-old on their major league roster, so they decided to go ahead and cut him loose. Guerrero, signed to a $28 million deal out of Cuba in 2014, was 9-for-66 (.136) in 16 games this season between High-A Rancho Cucamonga, Double-A Tulsa, and Triple-A Oklahoma City. He'll probably be officially released within the next 10 days, after he clears waivers.
May 31 - 7:15 PM

Sonny Gray (shoulder) threw off a mound with hitters standing in the box on Tuesday.

Gray said he felt "free and easy" during the workout. He'll throw a bullpen session Thursday and then the A's will reevaluate the situation. There's been talk of Gray returning when first eligible on June 6, but it might be best for him to make a minor league rehab start. Look for an update Thursday evening.
