Marlins optioned LHP Hunter Cervenka to Triple-A New Orleans.

Cervenka put up a 4.66 ERA in 10 appearances during Grapefruit League action. The 27-year-old was acquired from the Braves last August and will serve as bullpen depth in the minors.

Marlins optioned RHP Brian Ellington to Triple-A New Orleans.

Ellington gave up five runs on 10 hits and 11 walks over 10 1/3 innings this spring. The hard-throwing right-hander has posted a 2.64 ERA in 55 appearances in the majors over the past two seasons, but there's no room for him in the Marlins' bullpen after their offseason additions. He should get a shot at some point down the line.
Mar 28 - 10:25 AM

Astros optioned OF Preston Tucker to Triple-A Fresno.

Tucker just made his Grapefruit League debut after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder last September. The 26-year-old was the Opening Day DH last season, but he batted just .164/.222/.328 over 144 plate appearances with the Astros in 2016. He'll try to get back on track in the minors.
Mar 28 - 10:21 AM

Red Sox reassigned RHP Kyle Kendrick to minor league camp.

This is an indication that the Red Sox think Drew Pomeranz will be good to go for the start of the regular season. Kendrick enjoyed a really good spring, putting up a 2.17 ERA and 26/4 K/BB ratio over 29 innings.

Braves purchased the contract of LHP Eric O'Flaherty from Triple-A Gwinnett.

O'Flaherty has won a spot on the Braves' 40-man roster. A non-roster invitee this spring, the 32-year-old has posted a strong 1.69 ERA and 14/3 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings during Grapefruit League action. It's been a rough couple of years for him, but he's feeling good after his elbow surgery last August. He'll function as a lefty specialist in his return to Atlanta's bullpen.
Mar 28 - 9:46 AM

Braves purchased the contract of INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Bonifacio is now officially on the Braves' 40-man roster. The 31-year-old hasn't done much in the majors over the past couple of seasons, but checks some boxes for the Braves as a switch-hitter with speed who has experience between the infield and the outfield.
Mar 28 - 9:40 AM

Braves released LHP Paco Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who missed the entire 2016 season following Tommy John surgery, allowed one run over four innings this spring. The release is a bit of a surprise. The 25-year-old owns a 2.53 ERA and 91/30 K/BB ratio over 85 1/3 innings in the majors, so he shouldn't be out of a job for long.
Mar 28 - 9:37 AM

Braves optioned RHP Matt Wisler to Triple-A Gwinnett; reassigned RHP Joel De La Cruz to minor league camp.

Wisler has been a prominent part of the Braves' rotation over the past two seasons while putting up a 4.88 ERA, but there's no room for him right now. He'd likely be one of the first pitchers called up if there's an injury.
