Dodgers acquired RHP Bronson Arroyo from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Atlanta acquired Arroyo from the Diamondbacks on June 20, but he'll leave the organization without throwing a single pitch in a Braves uniform. The veteran right-hander underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last July and probably isn't going to be back near full strength until late August or early September. It's a salary dump for Atlanta: Arroyo is making $9.5 million this season and carries a $4.5 million buyout on his option for 2016.

Jack Curry of YES Network reports that the Yankees are set to acquire Dustin Ackley from the Mariners.

Ramon Flores is part of the package going back to Seattle. Ackley, 27, is batting just .215/.270/.366 with six home runs and 19 RBI over 207 plate appearances this season. While he's another option for second base, he also has experience in the outfield.
Jul 30 - 4:27 PM

Dodgers acquired RHP Jim Johnson from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Johnson had been serving as the Braves' closer for the past month-plus and was doing very well in that role. He'll enter the Dodgers' bullpen sitting on a strong 2.25 season ERA. Arodys Vizcaino appears likely to take over ninth-inning duties for the Braves.

Dodgers acquired UTIL Jose Peraza from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Peraza entered the 2015 season as a consensus top-100 prospect, but some of that shine has worn off. As of Thursday's official trade announcement, he was batting just .294/.318/.379 in 96 games at Triple-A Gwinnett. The 21-year-old has played second base, shortstop, and center field in the minor leagues.
Jul 30 - 4:24 PM

Mets signed RHP Tim Stauffer to a minor league contract.

Stauffer was released by the Twins last month after posting a 6.60 ERA and 2.07 WHIP over 15 innings. He had latched on with the independent league Sugar Land Skeeters from there, but will now function as organizational depth for New York.
Jul 30 - 4:19 PM

Dodgers acquired LHP Luis Avilan from the Braves in the 13-player, three-team Hector Olivera trade.

Avilan had registered a cool 3.58 ERA, 1.195 WHIP, and 31/10 K/BB ratio across 37 2/3 innings this season for the Braves. The 26-year-old left-hander should be a nice addition to the Dodgers' bullpen for the stretch run.
Jul 30 - 4:16 PM

Astros activated INF Jed Lowrie from the 60-day disabled list.

Lowrie was the Astros' regular shortstop prior to suffering a torn ligament in his right thumb in late April, but he now figures to get the majority of the playing time at third base. Sure enough, he's starting at the hot corner Thursday while Luis Valbuena plays first base. Lowrie was batting .300/.432/.567 with four homers and 10 RBI in 18 games prior to the injury.
Jul 30 - 4:14 PM

Jack Leathersich underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on Thursday.

Leathersich injured his elbow while pitching with Triple-A Las Vegas. The 24-year-old showed some promise during his first taste of the majors this year, but he'll now likely be sidelined until well into the second half in 2016.
