Red Sox activated LHP Drew Pomeranz from the 10-day disabled list.

Pomeranz will make his season debut Friday versus the A's after he suffered a flexor strain during spring training. The left-hander wasn't overly sharp during two rehab outings (5/9 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings), so fantasy owners might be wise to give him a start to knock the rust off before activating him.

Dodgers OF prospect Yusniel Diaz went 3-for-4 with two walks on Thursday for Double-A Tulsa.

It was Diaz's first game of the season, and it was a good one. The 21-year-old outfielder oozes fantasy potential thanks to his above-average hit tool and plus speed, and there's some power coming as well. He needs to show more consistency, but considering his age and inexperience, it's unfair to hold that against him just yet. Diaz could be a top-of-the-order hitter for the Dodgers before the end of the decade.

James Shields will start on Friday against the Astros.

Shields took the loss while making a relief appearance in the 14th inning of Wednesday's game against the A's, but he threw just 28 pitches and has apparently told manager Rick Renteria he's good to take his regular turn. The club had considered using Lucas Giolito on Friday, but he'll remain Saturday's starter.

Rays activated INF Brad Miller from the 10-day disabled list.

Miller has been sidelined since April 8 because of a groin strain but played in a couple rehab games with no issues. He was 6-for-27 (.222) with one home run at the plate before going on the DL.

Pirates RHP prospect Travis MacGregor threw six scoreless innings on Thursday for Low-A West Virginia.

MacGregor gave up just three hits, and while he did walk two, he compensated with six strikeouts. A second-round pick in 2016, MacGregor has been brought along slowly, but the 20-year-old right-hander now has a 0.73 ERA and 20 strikeouts in his first 12 innings of full-season baseball. He's still filling out his frame but he can get his fastball up to 97 mph, and he shows two solid -- but inconsistent -- offspeed pitches. He's nowhere close to a finished project, but this is another Pittsburgh hurler who offers some upside long-term.

Rays designated INF/OF Brandon Snyder for assignment.

Snyder was just added to the roster earlier this week. He'll likely clear waivers and can opt for free agency if he wants.
Apr 20 - 2:29 PM

Royals 1B prospect Nick Pratto went 2-for-4 with a homer on Thursday for Low-A Lexington.

Pratto, 19, now has two homers on his 2018 season. The 14th pick of last year's draft, Pratto was considered by many to have one of the more advanced hit tools in the class, but he's shown more swing-and-miss than anticipated. He's also shown more power, so that's a decent trade-off. He's a very good defender at first -- some have even suggested he could play in the outfield -- so he could be a fast-track player if he hits like anticipated.
Apr 20 - 2:22 PM

Braves LHP prospect Joey Wentz hurled five scoreless innings on Thursday for High-A Florida.

Wentz allowed just three hits and didn't walk anyone, and he struck out five. The 40th pick of the 2016 draft has been excellent in the Florida State League so far, and his ERA now sits at a tidy 0.64. Wentz has a fastball that gets into the mid 90s that plays up because of its life, and he also has a plus curve and solid change to boot. His command also has shown improvement, and if it can be even average, Wentz is a future starter. His current ETA is 2020.
