Lorenzo Cain left Thursday's game against the Cardinals with an apparent leg injury.

Cain was grabbing his right hamstring when he came off the field at the end of the fourth inning. Domingo Santana entered the game in Cain's place while Christian Yelich moved from right field to center. Cain went 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base before exiting.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports Mets RHP prospect Drew Smith will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Kevin Kaczmarski is also heading to Queens. Clearly the Mets, losers of 15 of their last 19, are ready to shake things up. Smith arrived last year in a trade that sent Lucas Duda to Tampa Bay. The 24-year-old has excelled in the minors, compiling a 2.88 ERA over 24 appearances (one start) for Vegas and Double-A Binghamton this season. He's New York's No. 30 prospect, according to MLB.com.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports Mets OF prospect Kevin Kaczmarski will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old has hit .346 in the minors this year including .363 over 80 at-bats for Las Vegas. A ninth-round pick out of Evansville in 2015, this will be Kaczmarski's first stint in the big leagues.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons acknowledged that Jaime Garcia could be moved to the bullpen.

The left-hander has been dreadful this year (6.16 ERA in 13 starts) and could lose his spot in the starting rotation with Marcus Stroman (shoulder) slated to return this weekend. Sam Gaviglio would likely be called on Sunday against the Angels if Garcia is indeed demoted to a long relief role.

Steve Pearce (oblique) will be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

He went 4-for-11 with a homer and three RBI over a four-game rehab stint for Triple-A Buffalo. The 35-year-old will occupy a utility role upon his return.

Sam Gaviglio will be activated from the paternity leave list on Friday.

There's some uncertainty about Gavigilio's role with Marcus Stroman (shoulder) returning Saturday, though manager John Gibbons has hinted that Jaime Garcia could be in danger of losing his spot in the starting rotation. If Gaviglio does return as a starter, he would likely pitch Sunday in Anaheim.

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Daniel Poncedeleon is "in play" for Monday's start against the Indians.

The Cardinals need a starter with Michael Wacha (oblique) on the disabled list. Poncedeleon will make his scheduled start for Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, but it will be an "abbreviated" outing in case the Cards need him on Monday. John Gant and Dakota Hudson are also candidates to start in place of Wacha.

Johnny Cueto (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

He's finally ready for game action after sitting out the past two months with a sprained elbow. Cueto will need three rehab outings to build up his pitch count after missing so much time (he's slated to throw 40 pitches on Saturday). The 32-year-old was off to a stellar start before his injury, logging a 0.84 ERA over 32 innings in March and April.
