Kendall Graveman silenced the Rockies with seven shutout innings, helping the Athletics to a 7-1 win on Monday.

Graveman scattered five hits and three walks while striking out three. All five hits were singles. The right-hander has been terrific since returning from the minor leagues in late May. Over his last eight starts, Graveman has a 20.1 ERA in 53 2/3 innings. He'll look to keep it going over the weekend with a home start against the Mariners.

David Hale gave up five runs in seven innings, taking the loss on Monday against the Athletics.

Home runs were his undoing, giving up a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning and then a solo shot in the fourth. He gave up nine hits overall, issuing no walks but striking out only two batters. Hale has an ugly 5.95 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP and a 32/7 K/BB ratio in 42 1/3 innings. The right-hander is ticketed for a road start against the Diamondbacks next.

Charlie Blackmon provided the Rockies their only run with a homer in Monday's loss to the Athletics.

Blackmon finished 1-for-5, drilling a solo shot in the eighth inning to put the Rockies on the board. He's posting similar numbers as last season, batting .275/.349/.446 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI, but he's really turned things up in the stolen base department. Blackmon has stolen 21 bases already in less than half a season compared to 28 last year.

Josh Reddick went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run as the Athletics easily defeated the Rockies on Monday.

Reddick gave the Athletics a quick 2-0 lead when he popped a two-run home run to right-center off of David Hale in the first inning. It's his 11th of the year but his first in two and a half weeks. Reddick has also knocked in 48 runs while hitting .287/.347/.474.

Billy Butler had a big night, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in Monday's win against the Rockies.

Butler singled and scored in the first inning, clubbed a solo home run in the fourth, knocked in a run with a double in the eighth and later scored on Brett Lawrie's triple. Aside from a four-hit night on June 17, Butler hadn't done anything at the plate, batting a miserable .179 (10-for-56) since June 5. Overall, he's hitting .254/.315/.366 with six home runs and 34 RBI.
Jun 30 - 12:49 AM

Chris Carter swatted his 14th home run of the season in a 1-for-4 effort as the Astros downed the Royals 6-1 on Monday.

Carter added some superfluous offense with a solo shot off of Brandon Finnegan in the fifth inning for what turned out to be the Astros' final run. The slugger is hitting .198/.315/.405 with 14 home runs and 38 RBI in 76 games. It's worth noting that, through 76 games last season, he had a .189/.269/.421 batting line with 15 home runs and 35 RBI. He finished the year at .227/.308/.491 with 37 home runs and 88 RBI, so a summer surge may yet await him.

Jose Altuve walked and hit a solo home run in four plate appearances on Monday as the Astros topped the Royals.

Altuve slugged a solo home run to left field off of Joe Blanton in the third inning, padding his club's lead to 3-0 at the time. He's now on an eight-game hitting streak while carrying a .292/.336/.415 batting line with seven home runs, 31 RBI, and 21 stolen bases.
Jun 29 - 11:25 PM

Joe Blanton had a short evening, going only 2 2/3 innings after giving up five runs in Monday's loss to the Astros.

Blanton had pitched well in his first two starts back in the rotation ahead of Monday's start, but the Astros had him figured out. They plated two runs in the second and three in the third on five hits and four walks. The right-hander struck out only two. Including his time in the bullpen, Blanton owns a 3.14 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP and a 26/7 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings. He has a date at home against the Twins in his next start.
