Matt Davidson (back) remained out of the White Sox' lineup Sunday.

Davidson was slated to return to action Saturday before being scratched and he'll now miss a fifth straight game because of back stiffness. There's been no indication to this point that a trip to the disabled list might be considered, but obviously he'll need to show improvement soon. Jose Rondon is in the designated hitter spot Sunday.

Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports that the Cubs could recall Adbert Alzolay to make his major league debut Tuesday against the Pirates.

They need a starter with Yu Darvish (triceps) going down. Alzolay hasn't had a good year at Triple-A Iowa, posting a 5.30 ERA and 24/13 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings. However, the 23-year-old has a big arm and is considered the team's best pitching prospect.

Gleyber Torres is not in the Yankees' lineup Sunday.

It's a routine day off for the rookie. Neil Walker is filling in at second base.
May 27 - 10:12 AM

Madison Bumgarner (finger) struck out eight across 3 2/3 hitless innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

Bumgarner walked one batter and that was the only baserunner he allowed as he threw 47 pitches over his 3 2/3 frames. He also singled in his only plate appearance. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said earlier this month that he expected Bumgarner to make at least three rehab starts, with his next one scheduled for Thursday with High-A San Jose. For what it's worth, Bumgarner thinks he could return sooner if necessary. "I obviously didn't know before today, but judging off the way I felt out there, I think so for sure," Bumgarner said. "I wouldn't say I'd be back and be in midseason form, but I feel definitely good enough to get some outs." Whether the Giants consider moving up MadBum's timetable remains to be seen, but if anyone could make a quicker-than-expected return, it's probably Bumgarner.

Royals recalled LHP Eric Stout from Triple-A Omaha.

Stout has allowed three runs over two innings in a couple relief appearances with the Royals this season. He'll work in low-leverage situations.
May 27 - 8:48 AM

Royals placed LHP Eric Skoglund on the 10-day disabled list with a left ulnar collateral ligament sprain.

Skoglund will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine how bad the sprain is and whether Tommy John surgery might be needed. Brad Keller is taking his spot in the Royals' rotation.

Bradley Zimmer (rib) has begun a rehab assignment with Double-A Akron.

Zimmer has missed the last two weeks of action with bruised ribs. He shouldn't need more than a couple rehab games before being activated.
May 27 - 8:33 AM

Alex Gordon (hip, neck) went 1-for-4 with a single in his return to the lineup Saturday.

Gordon missed a couple games with a sore hip and neck as a result of a diving catch Wednesday. It shouldn't be an issue moving forward.
