Adam Lind went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Cubs.

The double was Lind's 21st of the season. It was also the only extra-base hit that the 44-61 Brewers managed for the game. A long-time Blue Jay, Lind is hitting a cool .278/.356/.485 with 16 homers and 60 RBI in his first season playing for the Brew Crew.

Matt Wisler got lit up in Saturday's loss to the Phillies.

The Phils got to him for seven runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. The 22-year-old watched his ERA rise from 3.43 to 4.44. Wisler hadn't lost a decision since June 25 against Washington. He'll look for better result when he toes the rubber Thursday against Miami.
Aug 1 - 10:40 PM

Kyle Hendricks pitched well in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Brewers, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings.

With the win, Hendricks improved to 5-5 on the year. He struck out six and walked two, with only a Khris Davis RBI single in the fourth inning mucking up the potential shutout. Hendricks has been a dependable starter this season and holds a 3.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 103/25 K/BB ratio across 122 2/3 innings. He's set to take on the Giants at Wrigley in his next scheduled start.
Aug 1 - 10:36 PM

Matt Garza tossed a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Cubs, allowing three runs on four hits over six innings.

Garza's name was floated about in various rumors prior to the trade deadline, but the veteran right-hander remains a Brewer for the time being. He struck out five and walked four in Saturday's contest with the Cubs. Anthony Rizzo burned him for a three-run homer in the third inning, but Garza otherwise kept the scoreboard clean. His overall numbers are poor, as he holds a 5.17 ERA and 1.53 WHIP, but he'll toss up a respectably veteran outing from time to time. The Padres are up next on his schedule.
Aug 1 - 10:30 PM

Lucas Duda had a huge impact on Saturday's 3-2 win over the Nationals, hitting a pair of solo home runs and a go-ahead RBI double.

The Mets brought Yoenis Cespedis over at the trade deadline to bolster a shoddy offense, but on Saturday, Duda did it all on his own. He launched a solo home run against Nationals starter Joe Ross in the fourth inning, then repeated the feat in the seventh. That second homer tied the game at 2-2. A frame later, he smacked an RBI double off Nationals reliever Matt Thornton to put the Mets up 3-2. This would stand as the final. Duda has produced multi-homer efforts in three of his last seven games to help boost his slash to .246/.347/.481 with 20 home runs and 48 RBI.

Bryce Harper went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Mets.

Harper's had a somewhat sketchy series against his divisional rivals this weekend. On Friday, he went 0-for-5 with a strikeout before being ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the 11th inning. The Nationals lost that game. They lost on Saturday, too, though Harper at least managed to stay on the field for the duration of this one. Occasional shenanigans aside, the 22-year-old outfielder is an NL MVP front-runner and is currently hitting .332/.458/.677 with 29 home runs, 68 RBI and four steals.
Aug 1 - 10:20 PM

Aaron Nola scattered five hits and two runs over five innings Saturday in a victory over the Braves.

He struck out three without surrendering a walk. The 22-year-old has allowed a home run in each of his three starts this year, though opponents are still hitting just .211 against him in 71 at-bats. Nola will try for his third win of the season Friday at San Diego.
Aug 1 - 10:19 PM

Ryan Howard led the Phillies with three hits Saturday in a blowout win over the Braves.

Howard contributed an RBI single during the Phillies' four-run fourth inning. The former MVP is hitting a robust .313 since the All-Star break. He leads Philadelphia in home runs (18), RBI (60) and strikeouts (101) this season. Despite winning eight of their last nine, the Phillies remain 14 and a half games behind first-place Washington in the NL East.
