Astros RHP prospect Joshua James allowed one run over six innings for Triple-A Fresno on Monday.

James scattered four hits and two walks, and he struck out five. It's been a sensational season for the 25-year-old right-hander, who has struck out an impressive 96 hitters in 62 innings. He's also a fascinating story who credits curing sleep apnea with his new found success, and James now shows two plus pitches in his fastball/slider combination along with an improving change. James could help the Astros at some point in 2018, be it in relief or as a potential backend starter if necessary.

Padres 1B prospect Josh Naylor went 3-for-5 on Monday for Double-A San Antonio.

Naylor's calling-card is his power from the left side, but he can hit for average too thanks to his smooth swing and ability to recognize spin. The three hits up his average to .308 on the season, and he also has 10 homers for good measure. The biggest question mark is how Naylor fits with the Padres with Eric Hosmer the everyday first baseman for the next several years. He could be a trade candidate as the Padres get closer to contention in the coming seasons.

Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports that the Blue Jays are calling up infielder Lourdes Gurriel.

He'll join the club with Sam Gaviglio hitting the paternity leave list. Gurriel batted .206/.229/.309 with a 17/2 K/BB ratio over 70 plate appearances during his first stint in the majors earlier this season.

Astros OF/1B prospect Yordan Alvarez went 2-for-5 with a homer on Monday for Double-A Corpus Christi.

It's the eighth homer on the season for Alvarez, and it ups his slugging percentage on the 2018 season to a strong .581 in that time frame. Alvarez can also hit for average, as seen in his .308 mark on the year. There's much more value if he is able to play in the outfield, but even if he's a first baseman, the ability to hit for average and power make him an intriguing fantasy prospect that could help Houston in the coming years.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that trade interest is "building" for Blue Jays reliever Ryan Tepera.

Morosi notes that Tepera is under team control through 2021, so the Blue Jays don't have a sense of urgency to move him. Still, it makes sense to at least listen. Tepera, 30, owns an impressive 2.75 ERA and 38/12 K/BB ratio over 36 innings this season. He recently took over as the Jays' closer with Roberto Osuna away from the club following his arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman.

Angels LHP prospect Jose Suarez struck out eight hitters while allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings on Monday for Triple-A Salt Lake City.

He scattered five hits, and he walked just two with the aforementioned eight strikeouts. Suarez has reached Triple-A despite being just 20-years-old, and he hasn't done so with a big fastball (generally clocked in the low 90s) but rather with exceptional command and two plus secondary pitches. There are concerns about his build (5'10/170), but the stuff is there for Suarez to start. He's more high-floor than high-ceiling, however.

Twins 2B prospect Luis Arraez went 4-for-5 with a run scored on Monday for High-A Fort Myers on Monday.

All four hits were singles, and the stolen base was the second of the season for the second baseman. Arraez has a chance for a plus hit tool from the left-side of the plate. There isn't much power here -- and he's just fast enough to project to stay up the middle, so don't count on many steals -- but that talent could be enough to carry him to a regular role. A future .300 hitter at a middle-infield position can have fantasy value. He projects to join the Twins near the end of the decade.

Red Sox optioned RHP Justin Haley to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Robby Scott has been called up from Triple-A in a corresponding roster move. Haley tossed two scoreless innings last week in his lone appearance since his call-up earlier this month.
