Orioles right-handed pitcher Suk-min Yoon went 5 2/3 innings on Friday, allowing eight hits and two runs (1 earned) for Triple-A Norfolk.

Yoon sports a 9.49 ERA and batters are hitting .417/.462/.633 against him, so the relatively small investment made by the Orioles in the KBO alum looks like it won't have much of a return in the near term.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said closer Sergio Santos is unavailable for Saturday's game against the Indians.

After working on back-to-back nights, Santos will get a day to rest with Aaron Loup getting the call if a save opportunity were to present itself.

Will Middlebrooks (calf) could begin a minor league rehab assignment as early as Monday.

He was expected to start the rehab assignment earlier in the week, but a bout of the flu set him back a few days. He will regain his position as the Red Sox starting third baseman upon his return.

Phillies left-handed pitching prospect Jesse Biddle struck out 11 batters in 7 innings on Friday, allowing two runs (on earned), two hits, and one walk.

Biddle struggled in his first three starts in his return to Double-A but put together a solid outing. Biddle still looks on track to reach the majors later in 2014, but he may not make his debut until 2015 as the Phillies tendency to move prospects slowly could have an impact.

Shane Victorino (hamstring) is expected to play in three minor league games with Triple-A Pawtucket before being re-evaluated.

Victorino's rehab stint has been delayed by inclement weather, but as long as all goes well this weekend he could be looking at a return to the Red Sox on Thursday. Jackie Bradley or Daniel Nava could be candidates for demotion upon his return.

Tommy Hanson, who had been working out in extended spring training, is expected to join the rotation at Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

With Felipe Paulino completely lost on the mound, Hanson could soon be an option for the White Sox provided that he can show anything during his minor league stint. With his diminished velocity however, it's unlikely that he'd be a factor in fantasy leagues even if he were to return.

David Freese (quadriceps) remains out of the Angels starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's tilt against the Tigers.

Freese sustained the injury during his final at-bat of Wednesday's game, and while he's available to pinch-hit, he doesn't feel well enough to play in the field just yet. Ian Stewart will once again get the call at third base in his absence.

Nationals optioned OF Steven Souza to Triple-A Syracuse.

Souza was with the team as additional depth while Denard Span was on the disabled list with a concussion. He saw just five plate appearances in his five games with the club, going 1-for-4 plus a walk. He has a bright future and should get another chance with the Nats during the 2014 season.
