Vincent Jackson caught 4-of-9 targets for 78 yards in the Bucs' third preseason game.

Jackson was Jameis Winston's favorite target early in this one, and led the team with his nine looks. V-Jax's 2015 season was derailed by a lingering knee injury. He's another year older at 33, but if Jackson can stay healthy, he's in a great role as the clear No. 2 option in what looks like an offense ready to take the next step while playing more up-tempo. Jackson is a sneaky WR3.

Reggie Bush started the Bills' third preseason game and rushed three times for 17 yards, also missing his lone target.

Bush was the starter because Shady McCoy was resting and Mike Gillislee is out with a concussion. The Bills used Bush in the Shady role, however, giving him first-team carries on early downs, and subbing in rookie Jonathan Williams in some passing situations. Some beat writers believe Bush is the fantasy handcuff for McCoy. Bush is unlikely to carve out any standalone value.

Kelvin Benjamin hauled in 3-of-6 targets for 27 yards Friday night.

With Cam Newton struggling with his accuracy, Benjamin did well to catch half of his targets. Newton badly overthrew Benjamin twice, and he climbed the ladder to haul in two other off-target throws. Even with Funchess reportedly pushing him, Benjamin started and played ahead of the sophomore in two-wide sets. Even so, the depth-chart uncertainty makes him more of a WR3.

Charles Sims rushed four times for 13 yards and caught 3-of-3 targets for 16 yards and one touchdown in the Bucs' third preseason game.

Doug Martin played just a handful of snaps before exiting, and Sims was the next man up to get carries with the first-team offense. As Bucs beat writers have noted, Sims is running lower to the ground this year in an effort to become a more complete back. He's still more noted for his pass-game work, but Sims would be the man to own in a possible three-down role should Martin ever get hurt. Sims' touchdown grab Friday night came on a rollout by Jameis Winston, who bought time before finding Sims from three yards out.

Cameron Artis-Payne rushed nine times for 28 yards Friday night against the Patriots.

He also added 12 yards through the air on a nice catch-and-run. Artis-Payne had a nice night, but, most importantly, he worked as the clear No. 2 after Jonathan Stewart left the game. With Stewart's health always in question, CAP could make starts this season.

Brandin Cooks caught his lone target for 10 yards in the Saints' third preseason game.

It was a quick night for Cooks, who took a seat early in the game after Willie Snead (4-58-1) dominated. Cooks remains the heavy favorite for targets, catches, and receiving yards in New Orleans' pass-catcher corps. He deserves to be drafted as a fringe WR1 and offers top-ten upside at wide receiver.

Duke Johnson rushed three times for 22 yards and caught his lone target for nine yards in the Browns' third preseason game.

Johnson has looked better both as a ball carrier and pass catcher than backfield mate Isaiah Crowell this preseason. Johnson is averaging 5.0 YPC with a 3-19 receiving line, while Crowell bumped his YPC average up to 4.06 tonight, but has no catches out of the backfield. Still, look for Crowell to open the year handling early-down work, with Johnson getting third downs and hurry-up snaps.
Aug 26 - 10:45 PM

Aaron Dobson hauled in 2-of-3 targets for 49 yards in the Patriots' third preseason game Friday night.

Dobson turned Tom Brady's first pass into a nice 37-yard catch-and-run, but he had another pass knocked out of his hands on the sideline later in the game. Dobson saw plenty of work with the first-team offense Friday night, but he will likely be supplanted by Malcolm Mitchell (elbow) once the rookie gets healthy.
