Jets placed OLB Antwan Barnes (knee) on reserve/PUP.

Aug 30 - 10:15 AM

Panthers released CB James Dockery and DT Casey Walker.

Dockery had five tackles in five appearances for the Panthers last season before a torn labrum ended his season. Dockery has 24 career appearances, but only two starts. Walker dealt with a rib injury during camp.
Aug 30 - 10:14 AM

Panthers released G Chris Scott.

Scott made eight starts at guard for the Panthers last season. He once again had trouble with his conditioning in the spring and got beat out for a backup job behind projected starters LG Amini Silatolu and RG Trai Turner.
Aug 30 - 10:06 AM

Browns released WR Nate Burleson.

Burleson, 33, was bothered by a hamstring injury all camp, rendering him unable to compete against the likes of Charles Johnson and Travis Benjamin. Still, it's a terrible sign for Burleson that the league's most WR-needy team didn't feel the need to keep him. Having appeared in just 15 games over the last two years, Burleson will find very little interest on the open market.
Aug 30 - 10:05 AM

Redskins waived RB Evan Royster.

Royster averaged 5.1 YPC with 25 receptions across three seasons in the Shanahan run game, but the new Redskins regime had no use for him due to special teams limitations. Zone-running teams might like Royster as a potential No. 3 back. At worst, he's a functional and versatile reserve.
Aug 30 - 10:04 AM

Redskins waived RB Chris Thompson.

A pick under the Mike Shanahan regime, Thompson was a dynamic change-of-pace and kick return prospect, but simply couldn't stay healthy. The Redskins are apparently moving forward with UDFA Silas Redd as their No. 3 tailback.
Aug 30 - 10:01 AM

Vikings released DT Fred Evans.

Evans, 30, was made expendable after seventh-rounder Shamar Stephen's strong preseason. He may be brought back as depth following Week 1 when veteran salaries aren't fully guaranteed. Evans has played seven years in Minnesota.
Aug 30 - 10:01 AM

Giants released TE Kellen Davis.

Davis got plenty of first-string reps in the black hole known as the Giants' tight end room, but ends up losing out to Adrien Robinson, Daniel Fells and Larry Donnell.
