Returning from a four-week absence, DeAngelo Williams (knee) started Carolina's Week 9 loss to the Saints, rushing eight times for 20 yards.

Oct 30 - 11:58 PM

Rotating with DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart rushed eight times for 46 yards in Carolina's Week 9 loss to the Saints.

D-Will got the "start," but out-touched Stewart just 9-8. Stewart out-rushed Williams 46-20, but D-Will finished with 50 total yards thanks to a 30-yard reception. As feared, the duo formed a value-draining committee, with neither back being allowed to get into a rhythm. It's a shame with Stewart coming off one of his better games in recent memory in Week 8. J-Stew will be a high-risk FLEX option going forward.
Oct 30 - 11:52 PM

Kelvin Benjamin caught just 2-of-10 targets for 18 yards in Carolina's Week 9 loss to the Saints.

A lot of the blame for Benjamin's quiet night rests on the inaccurate arm of Cam Newton, but Benjamin straight up dropped a ball in the end zone for the second-consecutive week. He also committed a costly holding penalty that wiped out a third quarter first-down run from Jonathan Stewart. Benjamin flashes jaw-dropping physical talent every Sunday (or Thursday), but has had truly abysmal hands through the first eight games of his NFL career. With half the season in the books, Benjamin is on pace for 80/1,178/10. Great numbers, but they could be better if Benjamin stopped muffing catchable passes.
Oct 30 - 11:48 PM

Jimmy Graham caught 7-of-7 targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in New Orleans' Week 9 win over the Panthers.

Both the catches and yards were Graham's most since Week 4. The nice night came despite the fact that Graham appeared to tweak his troublesome shoulder multiple times, though he never checked out of the game. Graham beat blanket coverage from CB Melvin White on his one-yard score, and also dealt with supremely-physical attention from LB Thomas Davis. With half the season now in the books, Graham is on pace for 92/1,036/10 despite playing at less than 100 percent for the better part of a month. The yardage rate should pick up.
Oct 30 - 11:43 PM

Mark Ingram rushed 30 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns in New Orleans' Week 9 win over the Panthers, adding a 10-yard reception.

Ingram got the ball on New Orleans' first two plays from scrimmage and never looked back, becoming the first Saint since Deuce McAllister in 2006 to notch back-to-back 100-yard days on the ground. The 3.3 YPC was mildly disappointing against a Panthers team surrendering a league-worst 5.2 yards per carry, but Ingram was dialed up in a host of predictable running situations. He now has 54 carries for 272 yards and three touchdowns in the past five days. Ingram has a tough Week 10 matchup in the 49ers, but will be a locked-in RB2.
Oct 30 - 11:38 PM

Cam Newton was off his game in Carolina's 28-10, Week 9 loss to the Saints, completing just 10-of-28 passes for 151 yards and an interception, adding seven rushes for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Newton also lost a fumble on a strip sack. The passing performance was one of the worst of Newton's career, as he simply wasn't accurate, either lofting passes too high, or throwing them too hard. "Touch" was not in Newton's vocabulary this evening, though that's often the case. He was also hurt by drops. The only thing saving Newton's night from outright fantasy disaster was his 10-yard rushing score in the third quarter, where he spun out of a sack, got the edge and dove across the goal line. Newton now has 10 days to rest up for what should be a high-scoring affair with the Eagles. It will have been nearly a month since his last positive fantasy performance.
Oct 30 - 11:32 PM

Drew Brees completed 24-of-34 passes for 297 yards, one touchdown and one interception in New Orleans' 28-10, Week 9 win over the Panthers, also scoring a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Brees also lost a fumble. Brees started out shaky, with both of his turnovers coming in the game's first 10 minutes. He settled in quickly, however, and turned in a typically methodical performance, spreading the ball around to eight different pass catchers as Mark Ingram notched 30 rushing attempts. The Saints are now 4-4, with four of their next five games coming at home. With half the season in the books, Brees is on pace for 5,048 yards and 30 passing scores. The 5K campaign would be his fifth, and fourth straight.
Oct 30 - 11:27 PM

Speaking Thursday, Bucs coach Lovie Smith again hedged on RB Charles Sims' (ankle, I.R./return) Week 9 status.

"I don't know if he'll be ready to go this week," Smith said, before adding that Sims has been "making progress." We're still expecting Sims to suit up, especially with Doug Martin (ankle) looking shaky, but his status can't be taken for granted quite yet. Hopefully Sims is officially activated on Friday.
