With Eagles OLB Trent Cole sidelined by a hand injury, rookie Marcus Smith has moved back to outside linebacker at Eagles' practice.

The 2014 first-round pick moved to inside 'backer after a rash of injuries in the middle of the season, but he will finish his rookie campaign at his more natural outside position. Brandon Graham will slide into Cole's starting position while Smith has a chance to contribute as a rotational pass rusher. Smith has two quarterback hurries across 74 defensive snaps this season.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports expectations are DeMarco Murray (hand, questionable) will play Week 16 against the Colts.

This report jibes with the general feeling around Cowboys' camp this week. Murray is fully expected to be active and start against the Colts, though he may lose some pass-game work to Lance Dunbar. Murray is a must start if active, but with RT Doug Free (ankle, doubtful) and RG Zack Martin (ankle, questionable) likely out, he may find less running room than usual against Indianapolis.

Cowboys RT Doug Free (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 16.

Free has not practiced all week and is unlikely to play. Jeremy Parnell will make another start at right tackle.

Cowboys RG Zack Martin (ankle, questionable) was able to do some on-field rehab on Friday and believes he will be able to play Week 16 against the Colts.

Martin injured his ankle last week against the Eagles. Martin was able to finish the game, but he was limping badly in the locker room and has not practiced this week. Mackenzy Bernadeau would likely earn the start if Martin is unable to go. With RT Doug Free (ankle) unlikely to play, the Cowboys' running game could be less effective than normal against the Colts.

Browns placed S Tashaun Gipson on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

Gipson had expressed optimism he would be able to play again this season after tearing his MCL Week 12 against the Falcons, but the Browns have little reason to rush back their emerging star safety. A restricted free agent following the season, Gipson still leagues the league with six interceptions despite missing the last three games. Cleveland will likely look to lock Gipson up to a long-term deal this spring. The Browns signed OLB Scott Solomon off their practice squad in a corresponding roster move.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports several unnamed NFL executives believe the Bears may have to give up a draft pick in order to trade Jay Cutler.

Still owed a guaranteed $25.5 million on the seven-year deal signed last offseason, Cutler's contract appears to be trade prohibitive. Schefter's sources believe the Bears could offset the big guarantees by offering Cutler AND a draft pick to prospective trade partners. NFL rules dictate the Bears would have to receive some compensation in return, but Chicago could get around the rule by accepted a late-round pick in exchange for Cutler and a better pick. It would be a high price to pay to offload a talented quarterback, but with coach Marc Trestman likely finished after the season, Chicago may simply press the reset button.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the 49ers are looking for a young offensive specialist to replace Jim Harbaugh as head coach.

49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was originally believed to be the favorite to replace Harbaugh, but after watching quarterback Colin Kaepernick regress over the course of 2014, San Francisco may look to someone more offensively minded to lead the ship. Mort specifically mentioned Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and Broncos OC Adam Gase as possible candidates.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Roger Goodell told the Chargers, Raiders and Rams this week there will not be a team moving to Los Angeles in 2015.

This helps to explain why the Chargers announced on Tuesday they would be staying in San Diego for at least one more season. The Rams and Raiders could still file a relocation application after January 1, but those applications would not have the league's support and almost certainly would fail. The safe money is still on at least one team moving to Los Angeles in the near future, perhaps even as soon as 2016.
