Joe Panik is absent from the Giants' lineup Sunday.

He's getting a day off with the Rockies throwing lefty Chris Rusin. Kelby Tomlinson is filling in at second base.
May 29 - 1:48 PM

Padres recalled RHP Leonel Campos from Triple-A El Paso.

Campos has posted a 19.29 ERA over two appearances in his multiple stints with the big club this season. He'll be used in middle relief.
May 29 - 1:44 PM

Colin Rea is expected to rejoin the Padres' rotation this week.

Rea was sent down last week in order to help manage his workload, as he hasn't made an appearance for Triple-A El Paso. However, he's needed now with Cesar Vargas (elbow) on the shelf. Rea has posted a 4.47 ERA and 36/22 K/BB ratio over 50 1/3 innings this season.
May 29 - 1:43 PM

Padres placed RHP Cesar Vargas on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness.

Vargas was blasted for seven runs over 1 2/3 innings Saturday against the D'Backs, but he was apparently not 100 percent. It's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. Colin Rea will rejoin the rotation this week in his place.
May 29 - 1:40 PM

Giancarlo Stanton (side) remained out of the Marlins' lineup Sunday.

Stanton hasn't played since Tuesday because of soreness in his right side. He's done some hitting in recent days, so it does appear some progress is being made. Ichiro Suzuki is in right field again in Stanton's place.
May 29 - 1:38 PM

Christian Yelich (back) is back in the Marlins' lineup Sunday.

It will be his first start in over a week, as he's been battling back spasms. Yelich is in left field and hitting third against Julio Teheran and the Braves.
May 29 - 1:36 PM

MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that the Padres "are fielding calls from a lot of teams" on James Shields but "nothing appears imminent" regarding a trade.

Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Saturday that the Padres were discussing a Shields trade with the White Sox and there was "significant momentum" in getting something done. While Heyman appears to be pumping the brakes a bit, it does look like something is cooking with the veteran right-hander. Shields has posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 56/23 K/BB ratio over 64 2/3 innings this season. He's in the second season of a four-year, $75 million contract and the Padres would likely have to eat some of that money in order to move him.
May 29 - 1:20 PM

Carlos Correa is not in the Astros' lineup Sunday.

Correa has just four hits over his last 37 at-bats, so he'll get a day off to regroup. Marwin Gonzalez is at shortstop Sunday. The Astros also have Evan Gattis at catcher in place of Jason Castro.
