A source tells CSN Bay Area that Vernon Davis has avoided a significant ankle injury.

Sep 16 - 1:29 PM

Julio Jones (ankle) is practicing Tuesday.

Jones does not appear to be in any danger of missing Thursday's tasty matchup with the Bucs. He'll get a little boost if Roddy White (hamstring) is forced to sit.

Eagles ILB Mychal Kendricks underwent an MRI on his calf.

There was some speculation that Kendricks was just dealing with cramps, but the need for an MRI confirms this isn't the case. The Eagles' thin linebacking corps can not afford to lose their rising star at all. Backup Casey Matthews was benched before he could get his head on straight Monday night.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton is calling for the Vikings to suspend Adrian Peterson.

Public and political pressure on both the Vikings and the NFL continues to mount. "Whipping a child to the extent of visible wounds, as has been alleged, should not be tolerated in our state. Therefore, I believe the team should suspend Mr. Peterson, until the accusations of child abuse have been resolved by the criminal justice system," read a statement from Dayton. The Vikings have chosen to reinstate Peterson. It remains to be seen if the NFL can or will step in with further discipline.

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (quad) is considered week to week.

Whittaker and Mike Tolbert (shoulder) both went down in Week 2, leaving Jonathan Stewart to carry all the mail. But DeAngelo Willliams (thigh) and Tolbert are expected back this week, meaning Whittaker wouldn't have had a role anyway.

The Panthers expect DeAngelo Williams (thigh) to return for Sunday night's game against the Steelers.

Williams missed last week's win over the Lions after a thigh injury flared up on him. Assuming he gets through practice without a setback, he'll be ready to share the load with Jonathan Stewart in a plus matchup against Pittsburgh. Both backs will be low-upside RB3 types thanks to the cap on touches.

Lance Moore (groin) has resumed practicing in full.

Moore missed the first two games, leaving Justin Brown to act as the No. 3 receiver. The veteran should be fine to return as a fourth option behind Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton and Heath Miller.
Sep 16 - 12:25 PM

The NFL is discussing intervening in the Greg Hardy situation.

The Panthers let Hardy play in Week 1 even though he was found guilty of domestic assault in July. He was deactivated for Week 2 once the Ray Rice situation blew up. Now the NFL is considering stepping in with discipline.
