The San Francisco Chronicle expects Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals passing attack to test the unproven cornerbacks of the Oakland Raiders when the two squads face off in Week 3 of the preseason.
The Oakland defense accumulated just nine interceptions and was dead last in the NFL in points allowed per game in 2014, leaving them far off the fantasy radar when D/ST units are being selected in drafts. Sunday’s meeting with Palmer will be a tough matchup for the young Oakland corners, but the Raiders are hoping new defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. can begin to change the defensive culture in Oakland after serving as the linebackers coach for the stout Seattle Seahawks defense over the last five seasons.
Colts RB Vick Ballard is dealing with another hamstring injury.
Ballard suffered the injury on Thursday. It's "different" than the hamstring issue he dealt with earlier in camp. At this point, the injury-prone back is likely headed to injured reserve, and will eventually be released with a settlement.
Colts DE Arthur Jones was spotted with a walking boot on his left foot following Saturday's preseason game.
It's not good news for a player who was slowed by ankle issues for the majority of 2014. Jones has yet to come close to earning the $33 million contract he signed last March.
Ladarius Green nabbed one catch for 18 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Seahawks.
Green hasn't had quite the preseason fantasy owners were hoping for. In three games, he's hauled in just two passes for 27 yards. The 25-year-old will get a chance to start with Antonio Gates sidelined for the first four weeks but is nothing more than a late-round flyer.
Quinton Patton caught one pass for eight yards in the 49ers' third preseason game.
Patton operated as the 49ers' third receiver, but that did not get him many snaps with the first-team offense. San Francisco ran a lot of two-wide formations with FB Bruce Miller or an extra tight end on the field. With an uncertain workload on an offense poised to struggle, Patton is well off the redraft radar.
Eagles RT Lane Johnson believes he suffered a sprained MCL in Saturday's preseason game, but fully expects to be ready for Week 1.
Coach Chip Kelly claimed Johnson could have continued playing Saturday, but that's a little hard to believe. Either way, neither Kelly nor Johnson seem concerned. The right tackle has 14 days to heal up.
Montee Ball rushed four times for 11 yards and caught one pass for 20 yards in the Broncos' third preseason game.
Ball played behind Juwan Thompson, who appears to have jumped him for the third spot on the depth chart. Already well behind Ronnie Hillman for the backup job, Ball has zero fantasy value heading into the season. He is not guaranteed to make the final roster.
Owen Daniels caught one pass for three yards in the Broncos' third preseason game.
Daniels started and played ahead of Virgil Green, but he did not make an offensive impact. He now has five receptions for 28 yards this preseason. Daniels struggled to find weekly relevance with 78 targets last year, and it is not a given he gets that many opportunities this season. He is a TE2 at best.
