Dylan Covey left his start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks after suffering an apparent injury.

Covey called for a trainer after delivering a curveball to Paul Goldschmidt in the bottom of the third inning. The right-hander allowed four earned runs on five hits over 2 1/3 frames. There should be an update soon from the White Sox medical staff.

Lucas Duda finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI against the Padres on Tuesday.

Duda had been just 4-for-26 with no RBI in nine games since returning from the disabled list. Maybe this one will get him started.

Johnny Cueto struck out eight batters but allowed four runs across six frames in Tuesday’s loss to the Cubs.

Cueto yielded just five hits on the night and issued only one walk to go along with his eight punchouts, but he was undone by the longball in this one. The veteran righty served up three dingers, including a monster blast to Kyle Schwarber that went an estimated 470 feet. Fantasy owners have been fine with Cueto’s 60/17 K/BB ratio over 64 innings, but they’re anxious for that ERA (4.64) to come down. It will, and will probably do so on Sunday versus the Braves.

Anthony Rizzo smashed a two-run homer Tuesday against the Giants.

Rizzo had one of three dingers off of Johnny Cueto, with his being the only that wasn't a solo shot. His .224/.363/.424 batting line to this point has certainly been a disappointment, but Rizzo now has nine homers and 26 RBI on the year, with two of those homers coming over his last three contests.

Ryan Schimpf homered, walked and struck out against the Mets on Tuesday.

Of course he did. After seemingly briefly losing the third-base gig to Cory Spangenberg, Schimpf seems to have the advantage there again now. It helps that Spangenberg has been pretty awful. Schimpf is hitting just .169, but he still has nearly 200 points of OPS on Spangenberg (.746 to .553).

Jason Heyward knocked a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Giants.

Heyward's blast in the second inning that landed in the basket at Wrigley Field looked feeble compared to Kyle Schwarber's monster shot in the first, but they counted just the same. The outfielder has a hit in all three games since returning from the disabled list and has reached base five times.

Gregory Polanco (hamstring) took on-field batting practice Tuesday evening.

He also took additional hacks in an indoor cage and did some light running. "I feel so good," Polanco said after the workout. "I'm going to get back in the lineup soon." It sounds like the 25-year-old outfielder could be activated from the disabled list this weekend, forgoing a minor league rehab assignment.

Kyle Schwarber crushed a mammoth solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Giants.

Schwarber's blast off of Johnny Cueto in the first inning cleared the bleachers in right field and was estimated at a distance of 470 feet. It was the only hit on the night for Schwarber, who struck out a couple times.
