Michael Saunders (knee) will be re-evaluated at the end of July.

An MRI taken last week of Saunders' left knee showed significant healing, but clearly he's still a long ways away from a return. The Blue Jays will hope to get him back at some point during the second half.

Blue Jays activated INF Steve Tolleson from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.

Tolleson had been out since late May with a strained groin. He seems likely to clear waivers and remain in the organization.

Carlos Beltran could be headed to the disabled list after suffering a rib cage injury on Tuesday.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post hears that Taylor Dugas is on his way up from the minors, and it would stand to reason that he's replacing Beltran on the roster. The Yankees should offer an update on the veteran outfielder's status before long.

Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) will take batting practice on Thursday.

Pedroia has made nice progress since being placed on the disabled list last Friday with a strained right hamstring. There's currently no timetable for his return, but the start of the second half looks doable.

Daniel Nava (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday.

He'll serve as the designated hitter Thursday before then playing some outfield. It's not clear how many rehab games Nava will need, but he would seem to have a good chance to be activated prior to the All-Star break.
Jul 1 - 11:06 AM

Ryan Hanigan (hand) wasn't activated from the disabled list Wednesday because of a flight cancellation that delayed his arrival in Toronto.

Hanigan is in Toronto now but won't be activated until Thursday. Blake Swihart is likely to be optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room on the roster.

Sean Marshall (shoulder) played catch on Wednesday.

It was the first time he's thrown since undergoing surgery in May to repair a torn anterior capsule. "He looked normal, not like a guy coming off shoulder surgery. Pretty remarkable," Reds manager Bryan Price said. Despite Price's optimism, Marshall's appeal in free agency this winter figures to be limited give that he's coming off of a pair of shoulder operations.
Jul 1 - 10:55 AM

Raisel Iglesias (oblique) allowed just one hit over three shutout innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Reds manager Bryan Price said the reports on Iglesias were "good." The right-hander is expected to make two more rehab starts before rejoining the big club's rotation after the All-Star break.
