ESPN Cleveland reports suspended WR Josh Gordon is confident he’ll be reinstated.

Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged Gordon has applied for reinstatement, but declined to update his status. The league has 60 days to make a decision on Gordon, so there should be clarity on him prior to the draft. Despite multiple off-field letdowns, Browns VP of football operations Sashi Brown is open to keeping Gordon if reinstated.

Redskins president Bruce Allen said the team has opened extension talks with free agent Kirk Cousins.

"We’ve had discussions with his representative," Allen said. "We feel good. Kirk wants to be a Washington Redskin. It will work itself out." Cousins is likely targeting an Alex Smith-type deal after throwing for 4,166 yards and leading the league in completion percentage. Franchising Cousins would cost around $19.7 million.

Panthers WLB Thomas Davis (arm) is listed as probable for the Super Bowl.

Coach Ron Rivera already confirmed Davis will start. Despite being just two weeks removed from surgery, Davis should play his normal snaps.

Broncos safeties T.J. Ward (ankle) and Darian Stewart (knee) were upgraded to probable for the Super Bowl.

The Broncos listed them as questionable on last week's injury report. Both will start after practicing in full the last two days. Chris Harris (shoulder) is also probable.

Archie and Eli Manning think switching teams could be a deal breaker for Peyton Manning.

"He had some offers last year from teams, some teams talked to him," said Archie. "But I think that was going to be a lot of drama, again, to change teams, that he didn't want to go through. He did do that once, so I don't know that he would want to do that." Eli agreed that playing for a different team would be "tough" for Peyton. All signs are pointing to Sunday being Peyton's last game. Even if the Broncos are interested in keeping him, which seems unlikely, it's doubtful Manning would put himself through another year of wear and tear after missing six games to injury this season.

Lions president Rod Wood is hoping to introduce Calvin Johnson to GM Bob Quinn sometime next week.

Wood said he's kept in touch with Johnson, exchanging texts as recently as Wednesday. Johnson hasn't officially announced his retirement yet and the Lions are hoping a sit-down with Quinn will help him change his mind. If Megatron does return in 2016, the Lions will likely have to re-work his contract.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said the team has reached out to Johnny Manziel "several times" without a response.

"We're not worried about Johnny Manziel the football player, we're worried about Johnny Manziel the person," said Haslam. Manziel's life is spiraling out of control. He was dropped by his agent on Friday and has reportedly refused to go to rehab despite his family's insistence. The most ominous quote came from Manziel's father, who told the Dallas Morning News, "I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday." Manziel is living in denial right now and needs to get help immediately.

Jets signed LB Freddie Bishop to a two-year contract.

He visited seven teams before signing. Bishop was a stud in the CFL, winning a Grey Cup with Calgary in 2014. Bishop joined the Lions in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan but was cut after OTAs.
