Yoan Moncada drove in four runs in Friday’s extra-inning loss to the Royals.

Get excited, White Sox fans and fantasy owners. Called up after this week’s Todd Frazier trade, Moncada plated a run with a ground out in the second inning before collecting his first hit with Chicago on a bases-clearing triple in the third. Talk about easy speed. Moncada’s penchant for the strikeout will likely cut into his batting average upside in the short-term, but he’s capable of producing across the board in fantasy leagues.

Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two walks, and three runs scored in Friday’s blowout 13-5 win over the Rockies.

McCutchen delivered with RBI singles in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings. This was his first multi-hit game since July 7. The red-hot Pirates have won six straight games and now sit two games back in the NL Central and 6 1/2 games back for a Wild Card spot.

Trevor Williams walked away with the win after allowing five runs over 6 2/3 innings against the Rockies on Friday.

Williams got lots of help from his offense, but he settled down for the most part after giving up three runs in the first inning. This was the first time he had allowed more than three earned runs in a start since June 10, though it’s not unexpected in a Coors Field start. The 25-year-old owns a 4.74 ERA through 14 starts and six relief appearances on the year and lines up for a start against the Giants on the road next week.

Jeff Hoffman was rocked for seven runs over three-plus innings in Friday’s loss to the Pirates.

Hoffman was in trouble throughout. He was pulled after the first three batters reached to begin the fourth inning. The rookie right-hander gave up nine hits while walking four. He now has a 7.79 ERA at home this season compared to a 2.45 on the road.

Josh Bell went 4-for-6 with four RBI and a run scored Friday versus the Rockies.

It was the first four-hit game of his career. Bell had a single, a double, and a triple, so only a home run was missing from a possible cycle. The 24-year-old doesn’t stand out on the surface with his .248 batting average, but he has 17 homers and a respectable .807 OPS through 96 games.

Jordy Mercer launched a two-run homer Friday versus the Rockies.

It was his only hit in five at-bats on the day, but at least it was a big one. Mercer has nine home runs through 92 games, just three shy of his career-high from 2013. He already has a career-best .758 OPS.
Jul 22 - 12:44 AM

Nolan Arenado went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in a loss to the Pirates on Friday.

Arenado singled home a run in the first inning and connected for a solo homer in the sixth. He has knocked in 12 runs over his last four games and ranks tops in the majors with 82 RBI. The star third baseman has a chance to top his career-high of 133 RBI from last season.

White Sox acquired RHPs Mark Lowe and Jean Machi from the Mariners for cash considerations.

Lowe was a disaster for the Tigers in 2016 and hasn't been any better in the minor leagues this season where he owns a 6.23 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 39 frames at Triple-A Tacoma. He'll add organizational bullpen depth for the White Sox.
