Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Marlins have inquired on Angels' starters, including left-hander Hector Santiago.

The Marlins have also presumably asked about Matt Shoemaker, who has been on a heck of a roll over the past two months. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported earlier Monday that the Angels are listening to offers on Santiago, who is under team control for one more season. The southpaw has a 4.32 ERA and 96/47 K/BB ratio over 110 1/3 innings this season. The Marlins are known to be in the market for starting pitching, especially with Wei-Yin Chen (elbow) going down.

Stephen Vogt is expected to rejoin the Athletics on Tuesday.

Vogt was placed on the family medical leave list on Saturday, but he's back with the team Monday and will officially be activated on Tuesday.

Coco Crisp (neck) is out of the Athletics' lineup for the second straight day Monday against the Rangers.

Crisp was scratched Sunday due to neck soreness and the A's don't want to take any chances given his history. Consider him day-to-day. Jake Smolinski will start in center field and bat second.

Melvin Upton is out of the Padres' lineup for a second straight day Monday.

It's obviously a bit curious as Upton's name continues to float in trade rumors, but Padres manager Andy Green said that nothing is done yet and that the decision was made to give him a couple of days off. It still sounds very likely he'll be traded by August 1. Alex Dickerson will start in left field again Monday.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Domingo Santana had a "big setback" with his right elbow.

Santana was scratched from a rehab game on Monday after feeling continued soreness in his elbow. He'll be shut down for now, but suddenly his ability contribute at all in the second half is in question. Santana has been sidelined since June 7.
Jul 25 - 5:43 PM

Zack Greinke (oblique) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Tuesday.

If all goes well, Greinke will throw either a simulated game or a minor league rehab start on Friday. He appears on track for a return in early August. Greinke has been out all month with a left oblique strain.

Anthony Ranaudo will start against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Ranaudo will start in place of Jacob Turner, who allowed 12 runs in 7 1/3 innings over two starts. Ranaudo posted a 3.03 ERA and 71/12 K/BB ratio over 92 innings in Triple-A this season, but obviously this is a matchup to avoid in fantasy leagues.
Jul 25 - 5:34 PM

Chris Sale will make his return Thursday against the Cubs.

The White Sox suspended Sale for five games after he cut up some throwback uniforms with a knife as a bizarre form of protest. There's a chance that Thursday could be a final start with the White Sox, as the trade deadline is approaching and there has been quite a bit of a chatter about a possible deal. Of course, it would require a monster haul for Chicago to part with him and they might not see the sort of offers they want.
