Fernando Romero surrendered two runs over seven innings in a tough loss to the Mariners on Friday.

It's Romero's first defeat in five starts, as he was outpitched by James Paxton. He should have a more favorable matchup next time out against the Royals.

Max Kepler went 2-for-3 and homered off James Paxton for the Twins' only run of Friday's game.

Kepler's success hasn't translated into much fantasy value, but he seems to have taken a step forward as a player, especially when it comes to hitting left-handers. In fact, four of his seven homers this year have come in lefty-lefty matchups.

Robbie Grossman went 0-for-3 in the loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Grossman's primary skill is his ability to get on base, but he's at .300 this year with just five runs scored in 120 plate appearances. The Twins are going to have to look elsewhere for a bench bat if this keeps up.
May 26 - 12:30 AM

Mookie Betts blasted his MLB-leading 17th homer in Friday’s 6-2 victory over the Braves.

The Red Sox were up by one run when Betts deposited a two-run homer into the Monster Seats in the seventh. That gives him four homers in his last seven games. Betts also drew a walk and stole a base on the night. In addition to leading the majors in homers, he’s also at the top in batting average (.361) and OPS (1.199). Mike Trout is having an amazing year, but Betts has been the most valuable player in fantasy leagues so far this season.
May 26 - 12:23 AM

Eduardo Rodriguez improved to 5-1 after allowing two runs over 5 2/3 innings against the Braves on Friday.

Rodriguez gave up six hits and three walks while fanning seven. He ran into some early trouble, but the Braves were only able to cash in with a two-run double from Nick Markakis in the second. After hitting a bit of a rough patch, the southpaw has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four straight starts, so he’s regaining the trust of fantasy owners. He’ll bring a 4.02 ERA into a start against the Blue Jays next week.
May 26 - 12:22 AM

Julio Teheran allowed three runs over six innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Friday.

Teheran gave up solo homers to J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts in the fourth inning and a go-ahead sacrifice fly to Andrew Benintendi in the fifth. This was his first loss since way back on April 9. Teheran’s ERA sat at 3.14 after a win over the Rays earlier this month, but it’s now at 4.20 for the year. His next start comes against the Mets at home. Teheran has been tough to trust at SunTrust Park, but it’s a good matchup for him.
May 26 - 12:22 AM

Mitch Moreland went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Friday against the Braves.

It’s rather appropriate that he went deep on the day the Red Sox cut ties with Hanley Ramirez. Moreland is now batting .318/.393/.636 with eight homers and 23 RBI over 35 games. Moreland might not be the every day first baseman moving forward, but he’ll certainly be in there most of the time. Given the lineup and situation, he should be owned in more mixed leagues.
May 26 - 12:21 AM

J.D. Martinez connected for a solo blast Friday against the Braves.

It was a line drive homer over the Green Monster. Martinez went 1-for-4 on the night. He’s up to 16 homers on the year, with 11 of them coming this month. He’s done exactly what the Red Sox were hoping when they gave him a five-year, $110 million contract in late-February. That same sentiment goes for fantasy owners who invested an early pick in the slugger.
