Josh Phegley led the Athletics offensive attack in Friday's 7-2 Cactus League victory over the Diamondbacks, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Phegley also scored a pair of runs in the contest. The 27-year-old came to the A's as part of the Jeff Samardzija deal with the White Sox and is expected to serve as the primary backup to starting catcher Stephen Vogt. His power potential could be useful in deeper AL-only formats that require two catchers.

Kendall Graveman had a strong showing in his first start with the Athletics, hurling two scoreless innings in Cactus League play against the Diamondbacks.

The 24-year-old allowed just a pair of singles and punched out one. He's considered the favorite to land the fifth and final slot in the Athletics rotation on Opening Day. He had an outstanding season across four minor league levels with the Blue Jays in 2014, compiling a 1.83 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 115/31 K/BB ratio across 167 1/3 innings.
Mar 6 - 8:26 PM

David Peralta had a nice day at the plate in Friday's loss to the Athletics, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Peralta also swiped a base in the contest. The 27-year-old is expected to serve as the Diamondbacks everyday left fielder and is fresh off a strong rookie campaign where he slashed .286/.320/.450 with eight homers, 36 RBI and six stolen bases. He should be able to carve out considerable mixed league value provided he hits second in the D'Backs lineup.
Mar 6 - 8:23 PM

Robbie Ray struggled in his Diamondbacks debut on Friday, allowing two runs on two hits over his two innings of work against the Athletics in Cactus League action.

Ray also issued a pair of free passes and punched out one. The 23-year-old southpaw is one of many candidates trying to crack the Opening Day rotation and he'll need to show improved command and results if that's to be the case.
Mar 6 - 8:20 PM

Travis Ishikawa had a strong day at the dish on Friday, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI as the Giants trounced the Rangers 12-3 in Cactus League play.

Ishikawa also scored a run in the contest. He's working to secure a spot as a reserve on the Giants bench after slashing .274/.333/.397 with a pair of homers and 15 RBI in 73 at-bats with them down the stretch in 2014.
Mar 6 - 8:06 PM

Yusmeiro Petit delivered a strong effort in his Cactus League debut, tossing two perfect innings in a victory over the Rangers.

With Ryan Vogelsong and Tim Lincecum competing for the final opening in the Giants rotation, Petit is slated to be utilized in a "super reliever" role this season. While it's a terrific way for the Giants to get value out of him, it strips most of his fantasy value away outside of NL-only formats.
Mar 6 - 8:03 PM

Jake Smolinski belted a solo home run in his lone at bat in Friday's Cactus League loss to the Giants.

The 26-year-old tagged George Kontos in the ninth inning to give the Rangers their third and final run on the afternoon. With a strong showing this spring, he could put himself in the conversation to start in left field, or at least a platoon situation.
Mar 6 - 8:00 PM

Nick Tepesch was obliterated by the Giants in Cactus League play on Friday, allowing seven runs on seven hits over 1 1/3 innings.

The Giants got to him early and often in this one, including Matt Duffy leaving the yard to start a five-run uprising in the second inning. While he's still being considered for one of the final spots in the Opening Day rotation, he'll have to pitch much better than this to have a chance.
