Browns waived CB Robert Nelson.

Nelson appeared in seven games as an undrafted rookie last season. He could be headed to the practice squad.
Sep 5 - 12:26 PM

The Cleveland Plain-Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reported Browns RB Terrance West's roster spot "is not necessarily safe."

Pro Football Talk reports the Browns are in the market for a veteran back, and if they find one it could mean the end for West. The sophomore running back has earned the ire of coach Mike Pettine for his "ups and downs" and will begin the season behind at least Isaiah Crowell on the depth chart if he sticks with Cleveland. The Browns have reportedly discussed bringing in Ray Rice.

Eagles released QB Tim Tebow.

Tebow's apostles took Friday's trade of Matt Barkley as a sign that he'd be the Eagles' No. 3 quarterback, but the team has instead made the increasingly-common decision to go with only two signal callers. Mark Sanchez is one of the league's most experienced backups, making a third unnecessary for the time being. Tebow was impressive as a runner this summer while making some plays with his arm, but racked up stats against third- and fourth-string defenders, and hadn't appeared to make any meaningful progress on his previous form. A surprisingly great television presence, Tebow should be headed back to ESPN's SEC Network.
Sep 5 - 12:19 PM

Browns released QB Thad Lewis.

Lewis posted a brutal 56.8 passer rating during the preseason and was always a long shot to make the team. The Browns will move forward with Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel at quarterback. The 27-year-old Lewis hasn't played in the regular season since 2013.
Sep 5 - 12:17 PM

Falcons waived RB Jerome Smith.

A plodder out of Syracuse, Smith was proven to be a sub-average fit for new OC Kyle Shanahan's zone scheme. With Antone Smith also on the outs in Atlanta, the Falcons' current tailback depth chart looks like Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman, and Terron Ward, although that is subject to change before Monday.
Sep 5 - 12:13 PM

49ers acquired C Nick Easton from the Ravens.

The compensation is not yet known, but it will likely be a conditional pick. The undrafted rookie out of Harvard will provide depth behind starter Marcus Martin.
Sep 5 - 12:13 PM

Texans released DE Fili Moala.

Moala spent just two weeks in Houston. Now 30, he missed all of 2014 with a partially torn ACL.
Sep 5 - 12:11 PM

Raiders waived RB Michael Dyer.

The undrafted rookie out of Louisville care of Auburn appeared to have a roster spot locked up when Oakland cut Trent Richardson, but he now looks destined to spend his rookie year on the practice squad. Dyer gained 70 yards on 31 carries (2.3 YPC) this preseason.
