Derek Holland was rocked for seven runs on six hits over 2 2/3 innings in Saturday's loss to the Rangers.

Holland walked four and struck out one in the rough outing. Six of the seven runs on his line scored in the third inning, with the big blow coming in the form of a three-run home run by Rougned Odor. He has surrendered 14 runs on 13 hits over just 4 2/3 innings in his last two outings. The veteran southpaw will carry a bloated 6.07 ERA and 1.68 WHIP into a home start against the Twins next time he toes the rubber.

Yangervis Solarte went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Solarte struck for a two-run home run off Stephen Strasburg in the first inning. The 30-year-old infielder owns a .268/.342/.427 triple-slash with 13 homers and 47 RBI across 90 games played. His tater on Saturday was his first since August 8.

Cory Spangenberg went 2-for-3 in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Spangenberg collected a pair of singles in what was a quiet offensive game by both teams. The third baseman owns a .278/.331/.434 triple-slash with 12 homers and 43 RBI over the course of 334 at-bats. He has posted five multi-hit showings in his last eight games.

Dellin Betances worked a scoreless ninth inning for his ninth save Saturday against the Red Sox.

Betances struck out two while throwing nine of his 14 pitches for strikes. Sandy Leon reached after Gary Sanchez let strike three roll to the backstop but Sanchez redeemed himself later by gunning down Brock Holt, who came in to pinch-run for Leon, at second base. Betances should handle most of New York's ninth-inning chances going forward, at least until Aroldis Chapman is ready to reclaim the closer role. David Robertson, who saved a game against the Mets earlier this week, worked the eighth inning on Saturday.

Mike Trout went deep twice in five at-bats during a 5-1 win over the Orioles on Saturday.

He did his damage early, blasting solo bombs off starter Kevin Gausman in each of his first two plate appearances. The young superstar's prowess at the plate this season is obscured because he missed six weeks with a thumb injury, but his 1.164 OPS would be the highest in the majors by more than a hundred points if he had enough at-bats to qualify. He is slashing .339/.464/.700 with 26 longballs, 59 RBI and 61 runs scored. He's stolen 13 bases and been caught three times.

Adrian Sanchez went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Saturday's loss to the Padres.

Sanchez provided the Nationals their only run of the game with his RBI double off Travis Wood in the fifth inning. The 27-year-old infielder is hitting .279/.295/.372 with four doubles through his first 43 major league at-bats.

Robert Stephenson allowed two runs -- one earned -- over five innings in a win over the Braves on Saturday.

Stephenson gave up a solo homer in the third inning but not much else, giving up just three hits and walking three in his five innings of work. It was just the second win of his big league career and his first this year in 18 appearances. Just four of those have been starts, and the 24-year-old owns an ugly 6.13 ERA and 1.72 WHIP even after Saturday's outing. The big right-hander will have a shot at making it a winning streak Friday when he faces off against the Pirates.
Aug 20 - 12:13 AM

Luis Valbuena drilled a pair of home runs in a win over the Orioles on Saturday.

He hit a solo shot in the second inning and a two-run jack in the fourth -- both off starter Kevin Gausman. He also walked in the contest. The veteran corner infielder has struggled to hit for average this year but still has plenty of thump. He has a .197 batting average with 15 home runs and 42 RBI in 244 at-bats.
