Giants optioned 1B Adam Duvall to Triple-A Sacramento.

Duvall batted just .170/.220/.277 this spring. He doesn't have anything left to prove in the minors, but the Giants just don't have a spot for him.

Giants optioned C Andrew Susac to Triple-A Fresno.

Susac entered camp as the favorite to back up Buster Posey, but the Giants have elected to carry Hector Sanchez instead. The 25-year-old is probably better off playing regularly in the minors, anyway.

Joe Kelly (biceps) will appear in a minor league game on Wednesday.

The Red Sox are throwing Kelly against minor leaguers just in case they have to backdate a disabled list stint for him. The right-hander hasn't appeared in a game in nearly two weeks due to biceps soreness. "We'll continue to make sure that he's answering the physical questions,'' said John Farrell. "With the number of pitches thrown and a progression that's outlined for him...We're keeping their options open.''

Zach McAllister has been named the Indians' No. 4 starter.

McAllister essentially had a spot in the rotation wrapped up Friday when Danny Salazar was optioned and then went out Saturday and struck out nine over five frames. We would've liked to have seen Salazar get a shot, but McAllister is a perfectly capable back-end starter with a career 3.93 FIP and 299/122 K/BB ratio over 363 1/3 innings.

T.J. House has been named the Indians' No. 5 starter.

Zach McAllister has captured the fourth spot in news that doesn't surprise anyone following Danny Salazar's demotion. House holds a 5.60 ERA this spring but also a 15/3 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings. The southpaw posted a 3.35 ERA and 80/22 K/BB ratio over 102 frames for the Tribe last season and makes for a great late-round starter flier in fantasy leagues.

Brandon Morrow (blister) is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday.

It will either be a Cactus or minor league game, with Odrisamer Despaigne getting the ball in the other contest. Morrow had to be scratched from his last outing due to a blister, but he's evidently experienced improvement. The former Blue Jay is looking like the favorite to open the season as the Padres' fifth starter.

X-rays on Steve Tolleson's right hand came back negative.

Tolleson was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game. The 31-year-old has a shot to crack the Opening Day roster as a utility player with Maicer Izturis (groin) slated to open the year on the disabled list.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Rangers "appear to be leaning" toward keeping Rule 5 pick Delino DeShields Jr. on the roster.

DeShields is batting an underwhelming .235/.278/.382 this spring, but the Rangers like the speed he brings as an extra outfielder. The 22-year-old hasn't played above Double-A and is unlikely to see much playing time with the Rangers, but he has enough upside to justify a roster spot.
