Josh Lucas will start against the Mariners on Thursday.

This will essentially be a bullpen day for the Athletics, as Lucas will likely get to go through the lineup one time or throw around 50 pitches -- whichever comes first. In two games for the A's, Lucas has registered a 1.35 ERA over 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts.

Matt Davidson was scratched from Wednesday's game against the Orioles with back stiffness.

Davidson was originally in the starting lineup, but was pulled before the game in favor of Jose Rondon, who is in the lineup as the designated hitter and hitting seventh against Baltimore. For now, Davidson should be considered day-to-day, but he'll likely undergo further testing in the coming days.

Freddy Galvis doubled twice in a win over the Nationals on Wednesday.

Galvis now has seven doubles on the season, and he scored his 18th run of the year as well. He's swung the bat much better as of late, but he's still hitting just .236 on the season with 13 RBI and three homers over his 51 games with San Diego in the 2018 campaign.
May 23 - 7:20 PM

Manuel Margot went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a victory over the Nationals on Wednesday.

Margot gave the Padres a 1-0 lead with an RBI single off of Erick Fedde in the fifth, and he stole his sixth base of the season shortly after. The former Red Sox prospect is still struggling at the plate, as he is still hitting .191/.234/.287 with a homer, 12 RBI and six stolen bases over eight attempts in 38 games.
May 23 - 7:17 PM

Matt Adams went 3-for-3 with a homer in a loss to the Padres on Wednesday.

Adams was the only effective Washington hitter, and he hit his 11th homer of the season when he took Tyson Ross deep in the seventh inning. The strong run for the 29-year-old veteran continues, as he's now slashing .273/.375/.618 with the 11 homers and 28 RBI in 41 games.
May 23 - 7:13 PM

Brad Hand pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday against the Nationals and picked up his 15th save of the season.

Hand struck out two, and the only hit he allowed was a double to Anthony Rendon. Hand now is 15-for-17 in save tries in 2018, and his ERA now sits at 2.08 along with a WHIP of 1.12 on the year.
May 23 - 7:10 PM

Erick Fedde pitched well in a sport start on Wednesday against the Padres, but took the loss while allowing one earned run in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.

Fedde did allow three total runs, but two were unearned. This was the Fedde we were hoping to see when he was considered a top prospect just a few years ago, as he commanded the zone with all of his pitches and made very few mistakes; albeit against a weak Padres lineup. He'll likely head back to Triple-A, but this was a strong audition start for anyone considering Fedde in a deal near the deadline.
May 23 - 7:08 PM

Tyson Ross was excellent in a win over the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing one run in 6 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts in a 3-1 victory.

Matt Adams had three hits and a homer off of Ross. The rest of the Nationals lineup had two hits total. It's just another in an excellent stretch of starts for the 31-year-old right-hander, and his ERA is now down to 3.13 on the season. One can't help but wonder what the Padres could get in return for the right-hander, but for now, he's the team's best starting pitcher. We'll see him back on the bump for San Diego against the Marlins next Tuesday.
