Randal Grichuk is out of the Cardinals' starting lineup on Monday night against the Phillies.

Grichuk was able to emerge from his brutal early-season slump, but he's back to flailing again so the Cardinals will give him a night of mental and physical rest. Stephen Piscotty is in center field, Brandon Moss is in right, and Matt Adams is at first base versus Phillies right-hander Jeremy Hellickson.

Ryan Flaherty is expected to return to the Orioles' active roster on Tuesday.

Flaherty was just optioned to Norfolk a week ago, but the O's need him again to provide infield depth while JJ Hardy recovers from a fracture in his foot. Paul Janish will also be worked into the mix once he returns from the Triple-A paternity leave list. Manny Machado could be the everyday guy at short.

Reds LHP prospect Cody Reed fired seven innings of one-hit ball Sunday in a win for Triple-A Louisville.

It was Reed's longest outing of the season and his second start since returning from a finger injury. Durham first baseman Patrick Leonard was the only hitter to reach base against him, walking in the third and connecting on a single in the sixth inning. Reed stayed sharp despite enduring a 50-minute rain delay between the sixth and seventh innings. The 23-year-old joined the Reds organization last summer as part of the Johnny Cueto trade.

Elias Diaz is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured right elbow this week.

The exact procedure he's facing is unclear. Diaz began experiencing elbow troubles toward the end of spring training and recently had a setback with his rehab. 2015 could become a lost season for the 25-year-old catcher.

Jason Heyward is not in the Cubs' starting lineup Monday night against the Pirates.

It's just a day of rest for the $184 million right fielder, who went 0-for-5 on Sunday and is batting .211/.317/.256 over his first 104 plate appearances with the Cubs.

Paul Janish is scheduled to go on the paternity leave list at Triple-A Norfolk.

Janish will be a candidate for playing time at shortstop in Baltimore once he is activated from that leave list, though Manny Machado is expected to handle most of the load. J.J. Hardy was diagnosed Monday with a fracture in his left foot and will likely miss the next 6-8 weeks. Ryan Flaherty will also be joining the O's at some point soon to provide infield depth.

Diamondbacks RHP prospect Braden Shipley spun six shutout frames Sunday for Triple-A Reno.

Reno didn't score until the 12th inning, forcing Shipley to settle for a no-decision. Shipley was firing on all cylinders Sunday with five strikeouts and only two walks. Both of those free passes came in the sixth inning. 67 of his 104 pitches went for strikes. The right-hander hasn't allowed a run in his last two starts, though he doesn't have a win to show for it.

Pirates OF prospect Tyler Glasnow hurled five shutout innings Sunday in a win for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Glasnow had to work hard in this one. Though he only allowed two hits, Glasnow struggled with his control all day while handing out a season-high five walks. He countered that by tallying seven strikeouts. The top prospect has won his last two starts and has limited opponents to a dismal .187 average in 91 at-bats this season. The 22-year-old is creeping closer to his big league debut, which could occur any month now.
