Robert Griffin III - QB - Redskins

Sources tell NFL Network's Mike Silver that Redskins coach Mike Shanahan's benching of Robert Griffin III was a "football decision based on poor performance."

According to Silver, Shanny believed he "had to bench RGIII to maintain credibility with the team," but that he "didn't want to throw RGIII under the bus by stating poor performance as the reason." Just another day in paradise. RGIII was certainly playing poorly, but it was Shanahan himself who recently said the only way Griffin would get better was by getting as many reps as possible. Per Silver, Griffin was "extremely angry" to be shut down for health reasons. We'd guess he'll be even more angry now. The Redskins' 2013 season can't end soon enough.

Virgil Green - TE - Broncos

The Denver Post reports TE Virgil Green, and not TE Jacob Tamme, will get the start in place of Wes Welker Thursday against the Chargers.

Tamme played over Green in Sunday's win over the Titans, but the Broncos apparently decided to change things up after having four days to decide how they'll make up for the loss of Welker. Beat writer Mike Klis speculates Julius Thomas could man the slot in two-TE sets. Despite the "start," Green is not a recommended Week 15 fantasy play.

Jacob Tamme - TE - Broncos

The Denver Post reports TE Virgil Green, and not TE Jacob Tamme, will get the start in Wes Welker's (concussion) place in the slot against the Chargers.

It's a late-breaking wrench into the plans of tight end streamers. For all we know, Green will start, but the duo will rotate snaps. It was Tamme who filled in for Welker in Sunday's win over the Titans. Either way, it's enough to bump Tamme down in this week's tight end ranks, and should cause owners to reassess their plans if they're deciding between Tamme and another TE2 type. The Denver Post's Mike Klis speculates it could be Julius Thomas who mans the slot in two-TE sets.

Mike Shanahan - OT - Redskins

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Redskins coaches "all think" they're getting fired.

The purge is coming, but owner Daniel Snyder has decided to wait out troublemaking head coach Mike Shanahan. Shanny's name should be one of the first we learn on Black Monday.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport surveyed six rival general managers about Redskins QB Kirk Cousins' trade value, and "everyone" believed he could fetch a second-round pick.

This is where it's worth noting that backup quarterbacks often have grossly exaggerated trade value. Similar things were said about Matt Flynn in Green Bay, and Brian Hoyer in New England. Cousins could buck the trend with a successful three-game stint in place of Robert Griffin III, but he'd have to be really, really good. This isn't the last we've heard of this story.

Michael Crabtree - WR - 49ers

Michael Crabtree (ankle) remained limited in Thursday's practice.

The 49ers insist the issue isn't related to Crabtree's Achilles' injury. For now, Crabtree isn't believed to be in any danger of missing Sunday's game, where he'll be a mid-range WR4 against Darrelle Revis and the Bucs.

Frank Gore (ankle) remained limited in Thursday's practice.

The 49ers are just managing Gore's reps after he tweaked his ankle late in Sunday's win over the Seahawks. He's a mid-range RB2 for Week 15.

Doug Baldwin - WR - Seahawks

Doug Baldwin returned to Seahawks practice Thursday, getting in a full session.

Baldwin's Week 15 status is no longer a concern. He's an upside WR4 for the Seahawks' meeting with the Giants.
