According to the New York Post, the FBI is investigating former Giants TE Jeremy Shockey in connection to an international drug and gambling ring.

Owen Hanson, a former walk-on tight end at USC, was among 22 charged in a drug smuggling operation that allegedly spanned from Brooklyn all the way to Australia. Shockey has maintained a friendship with Hanson over the years but denies any involvement in the drug ring and told the FBI he has "nothing to hide." "I've never had anything to do with drugs," said Shockey. "And I would never do anything illegal to jeopardize what I’ve worked for." The investigation is ongoing.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Marshawn Lynch has told "people close to him" he plans on retiring.

According to Schefter, Lynch has even told members of the Seahawks organization that he plans on hanging it up. Lynch, who was on the fence about coming back last year, struggled through an injury-plagued season in 2015 while being outplayed by rookie Thomas Rawls. If this is it for Beast Mode, he'll finish his career with 9,112 rushing yards across nine NFL seasons. That total ranks 36th all-time.

The Dolphins believe they have a starting-caliber running back in Jay Ajayi.

Beat writer Barry Jackson believes Miami will try to retain Lamar Miller but defensive end Olivier Vernon remains the team's top priority in free agency. Part of the Dolphins' willingness to move on from Miller stems from the potential they see in Ajayi, who averaged 3.8 yards per carry as a rookie. If Miller leaves, Ajayi should be close to an every-down back next season.

Athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion doesn't expect Panthers WLB Thomas Davis (arm) to be limited in Sunday's Super Bowl against the Broncos.

"The biggest challenge for him right now is, what's it going to feel like to take a blow on it," said Vermillion. "The nice thing is, wrist motion is going to be there, elbow motion is going to be there, and his grip is there." Davis has made a miraculous recovery from a broken arm and should play his usual snaps on Sunday. He shouldn't need any more surgery after having a six-inch plate installed during the bye week.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Broncos will place the franchise tag on Von Miller and then try to work out a contract extension.

The Broncos could use the tag on Brock Osweiler instead but it sounds like Miller is the top priority. Miller has keyed Denver's pass rush for the last four years and is coming off a monster game against New England in the AFC Championship. Last year the salary for linebackers under the franchise tag was $13.195 million. That number should jump to about $14 million in 2016.

Ex-Lions WR Titus Young was arrested on January 30 on charges of felony battery with serious bodily injury.

The incident occurred in Los Angeles. Between this new battery charge and Young's prior convictions, he could be looking at up to nine years in prison. Young was sentenced to five years probation last year following a string of assaults. The 26-year-old hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2013.

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston believes the Patriots will "explore the possibility" of signing impending free agent Matt Forte.

The Patriots were painfully one-dimensional on offense after losing Dion Lewis and LeGarrette Blount to season-ending injuries this year. Forte would be a tremendous upgrade for New England, particularly given his all-around skill set. If the Patriots are thinking younger (Forte turned 30 in December) they could also kick the tires on Chris Ivory, Doug Martin or Lamar Miller.

Former Packers QB Brett Favre was one of four players elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

One of the greatest quarterbacks in league history, Favre was inducted in his first year of eligibility. Drafted by the Falcons, he played 16 years with the Packers before finishing his career with the Jets and Minnesota. A six-time All Pro, Favre owns multiple NFL records, including most starts (298), pass completions (6,300), and is tied with Peyton Manning with 186 career wins. He ranks second all-time in pass yards (71,838) and touchdowns (508). Favre is joined by Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, coach Tony Dungy, Seniors nominees Dick Stanfel and Ken Stabler, and contributor Eddie DeBartolo as members of the 2016 Hall of Fame class. Terrell Owens, Kurt Warner, Terrell Davis, and Steve Atwater were among the candidates not selected.
