Tim Hudson has been added to the National League All-Star team.

He's replacing teammate Madison Bumgarner, who is starting on Sunday. Hudson is a worthy addition, having posted a 2.87 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 18 starts during the first half. It will be his fourth All-Star appearance.

Brad Hand left Sunday's game against the Mets with a bruised right shin.

Hand allowed three runs on six hits and two walks over four innings before exiting. He had thrown 72 pitches, so the lefty probably wouldn't have lasted a whole lot longer, anyway. Hand should be fine after the All-Star break.

Athletics activated LHP Drew Pomeranz from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.

Pomeranz made a rehab start Saturday, as his fractured right hand is no longer an issue. However, he's no longer needed in the rotation following the addition of Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel. The lefty will represent depth at Triple-A.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox were one of a few teams to scout Cole Hamels last week.

The Red Sox figure to be sellers at the trade deadline, but Hamels still has four years remaining on his contract after this season. The Phillies haven't given any indication that they'll shop Hamels this month, but they also haven't dismissed the idea. If they do put him on the block, potential suitors will surely line up even with the lefty's big contract.

Rockies transferred RHP Jordan Lyles from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Tests showed that the fracture of the middle metacarpal on Lyles' left hand hasn't healed yet. The righty was also involved in a car accident Friday, though that's not the reason his return is being delayed. "It was a minor accident, but he doesn't look real pretty," manager Walt Weiss said. Lyles won't be eligible to return until early August and it's not clear whether he'll even be ready at that time.

Alfredo Simon has been added to the National League All-Star team.

It's not clear whose spot he's taking, but there are four NL starters Sunday that need to be replaced. We'd rather see someone like Stephen Strasburg make it, but Simon has had a great first half with a 2.70 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.

Rockies released RHP Manny Corpas.

Corpas requested and received his release after evidently being told he wasn't going to be called up anytime soon. The 31-year-old holds a 5.29 ERA with 42 strikeouts over 47 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

Blue Jays sent RHP Bobby Korecky outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

He had been designated for assignment but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. Korecky has allowed three runs over 3 1/3 relief frames for the Jays this season.
