Andrew Miller struck out all three batters he faced in a dominant eighth inning Monday versus the Athletics.

Miller picked up his 12th hold along the way. The left-handed setup man boasts a dominant 0.35 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, and 36/5 K/BB ratio in 26 innings this season.

Cody Allen allowed a run on three hits but netted his 14th save Monday against the A's.

Allen gave up a solo homer to Khris Davis and a pair of two-out singles, but he struck out Trevor Plouffe to seal the 5-3 victory for Cleveland. Allen has struggled a bit over the last couple of weeks, but he still holds a decent 2.61 ERA on the year and a pretty firm grasp on the Indians' ninth-inning gig.

Daniel Mengden allowed five earned runs over just 3 1/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Indians.

Mengden tallied just one strikeout and served up seven hits, including three homers. The 24-year-old right-hander was performing well at Triple-A Nashville, but he could be headed back there after this drubbing.

Brandon Phillips (knee) is expected to return to the Braves' lineup Tuesday.

Phillips is still sore after fouling a ball off his knee Sunday, so he's sitting out Monday. He could pinch-hit, though, and will be used in the designated hitter spot in Anaheim on Tuesday.

Wilmer Flores finished 3-for-4 with a run scored in the Mets' 4-2 win over the Brewers on Monday.

Flores has an impressive .313/.340/.458 batting line in 33 games (96 at-bats) this season for New York. He probably deserves more playing time.
May 29 - 7:18 PM

Domingo Santana finished 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the Brewers' loss to the Mets on Monday.

Santana also had a big game Sunday against the Diamondbacks, going 2-for-4 with a grand slam, and he's now batting .276/.374/.481 with eight home runs, 28 RBI, four stolen bases, and 27 runs scored in 48 games this season. Talent has never been the issue with the 24-year-old outfielder. If he can stay away from the disabled list, it's a good bet the production will continue.

X-rays on Byron Buxton's right right finger came back negative.

Buxton suffered a cut on his finger when his hand hit Eddie Rosario's spikes during a dive in the outfield, but he avoided a serious injury. The young outfielder thinks he could be ready to play as soon as Tuesday.

Addison Reed earned his seventh save of the season Monday in the Mets' win over the Brewers.

Reed blew a save on Friday night against the Pirates and he gave up back-to-back leadoff singles to open the top of the ninth inning Monday, but the 28-year-old right-hander retired the next three batters he faced -- two via strikeout -- to secure the 4-2 win for New York. Reed has a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 30/3 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings this season.
