Andrew Miller (forearm) allowed two hits in a scoreless inning Monday in his first minor league rehab appearance with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Miller struck out one batter in the inning. He might only need one rehab appearance before being activated. The southpaw has been out for a month with a strained left forearm. Dellin Betances has been handling closing duties during his absence.

Jake Odorizzi (oblique) tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings Monday in his latest minor league rehab start with High-A Charlotte.

Odorizzi, who has been out for a month with an oblique strain, allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out six. I haven't had any pain for quite a while now so I was just looking to get through this healthy and make sure I got all my pitches in," said Odorizzi. He's on track to rejoin the Rays on Saturday against the Astros.

Phillies recalled RHP Hector Neris to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Neris made two appearances for the Phillies back in April. He'll pitch in middle relief.

Santiago Casilla was charged with one run on two hits over one-third of an inning Monday against the Mets.

Casilla tried to keep the game scoreless when he replaced Sergio Romo with runners on second and third in the ninth inning, but he quickly gave up a two-run double to Johnny Monell, who later scored on a single by Juan Lagares. Giants manager Bruce Bochy gave Casilla a few days off due to fatigue, but it looks like he's ready to resume closing duties.
Jul 7 - 8:46 AM

Phillies sent RHP Sean O'Sullivan outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

O'Sullivan got the boot after he threw 123 pitches in 5 1/3 innings while allowing seven runs (six earned) Monday against the Dodgers. The 27-year-old has posted an ugly 6.08 ERA across 13 starts this season. Only Rick Porcello, Kyle Lohse, and Jerome Williams have a higher ERA among pitchers with at least 70 innings pitched. It's unclear who will replace him in Philadelphia's starting rotation.
Jul 7 - 8:32 AM

Kenley Jansen got into a ninth inning jam and escaped, converting his 14th save in Monday's 10-7 victory over the Phillies.

Jansen walked Carlos Ruiz and allowed a single to Cody Asche to bring the tying run to the plate with no outs. He struck out Domonic Brown, got Jeff Francoeur to fly out, and struck out Andres Blanco to end the game. Jansen had allowed runs in each of his previous three performances. The hard-throwing right-hander is 14-for-15 in save chances with a 1.83 ERA and a 34/2 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 innings.
Jul 7 - 2:44 AM

Yimi Garcia, making his first major league start, gave up two runs in two innings but got a no-decision as the Dodgers eventually overcame the Phillies on Monday.

Garcia allowed a two-run home run to Freddy Galvis in the second inning, accounting for the damage. It was one of four hits he allowed while walking none and striking out two. The Dodgers were hurting for rotation help, but Garcia will likely head back to the bullpen after this.
Jul 7 - 2:41 AM

Sean O'Sullivan threw a career-high 123 pitches in 5 1/3 innings, yielding seven runs (six earned) but got a no-decision as the Phillies lost to the Dodgers on Monday.

The Phillies backed him up with plenty of run support, but it went for naught. Yasmani Grandal struck the big blow, swatting a three-run home run to tie the game at 6-6 in the fifth inning. Overall, he relented eight hits and a pair of walks while striking out three. O'Sullivan has an unsightly 6.08 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP and a 35/20 K/BB ratio over 71 innings. He'll close out the first half with a start in San Francisco against the Giants.
