Elian Herrera went 1-for-2 and scored the Brewers lone run in Friday's Cactus League loss to a split-squad Dodgers team.

Hererra had one of just two total hits that the Brewers were able to scratch out in this one. In camp as a non-roster invitee, the versatile 30-year-old is looking to win a spot on the Brewers bench.

Matt Garza strruggled in a losing effort against the Dodgers in his Cactus League debut on Friday, surrendering five runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk over two innings.

Garza struck out one on the afternoon. All of the damage came in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of A.J. Ellis. The 31-year-old hurler dealt with shoulder tightness at the end of the 2014 season but appears to be fully healthy and ready to go now.

Adam Lind was held out of the Brewers lineup on Friday due to soreness in his back.

Lind has dealt with a long history of back issues, which flared up while taking grounders on Thursday. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke indicated that he believes the issue is minor and that Lind should return to the lineup in a couple of days.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that preliminary X-rays on Daniel Murphy's hand came back negative on Friday.

The belief is that Murphy sustained merely a bruised right hand after being hit by a pitch during Friday's Grapefruit League contest. The Mets could play things safely and hold him out of action for a day or two, but he's expected to be fine.
Mar 6 - 8:35 PM

Josh Phegley led the Athletics offensive attack in Friday's 7-2 Cactus League victory over the Diamondbacks, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Phegley also scored a pair of runs in the contest. The 27-year-old came to the A's as part of the Jeff Samardzija deal with the White Sox and is expected to serve as the primary backup to starting catcher Stephen Vogt. His power potential could be useful in deeper AL-only formats that require two catchers.
Mar 6 - 8:32 PM

Kendall Graveman had a strong showing in his first start with the Athletics, hurling two scoreless innings in Cactus League play against the Diamondbacks.

The 24-year-old allowed just a pair of singles and punched out one. He's considered the favorite to land the fifth and final slot in the Athletics rotation on Opening Day. He had an outstanding season across four minor league levels with the Blue Jays in 2014, compiling a 1.83 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 115/31 K/BB ratio across 167 1/3 innings.
Mar 6 - 8:26 PM

David Peralta had a nice day at the plate in Friday's loss to the Athletics, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Peralta also swiped a base in the contest. The 27-year-old is expected to serve as the Diamondbacks everyday left fielder and is fresh off a strong rookie campaign where he slashed .286/.320/.450 with eight homers, 36 RBI and six stolen bases. He should be able to carve out considerable mixed league value provided he hits second in the D'Backs lineup.
Mar 6 - 8:23 PM

Robbie Ray struggled in his Diamondbacks debut on Friday, allowing two runs on two hits over his two innings of work against the Athletics in Cactus League action.

Ray also issued a pair of free passes and punched out one. The 23-year-old southpaw is one of many candidates trying to crack the Opening Day rotation and he'll need to show improved command and results if that's to be the case.
