Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Monday that Miguel Cabrera has been dealing with a "cranky ankle."

That's part of the reason for his absence Monday, though Ausmus said it's only a minor thing. Cabrera should return to the Tigers' starting lineup on Tuesday night. Hernan Perez is starting at first base for Detroit in Monday's series opener at Oakland's O.co Coliseum.

Marlins pitching prospect Trevor Williams threw 6 1/3 shutout innings Sunday for Double-A Jacksonville.

65 of his 96 pitches went for strikes. The win was Williams' first in 12 Double-A starts. The 23-year-old excelled at High-A in 2014 (2.79 ERA in 23 starts for Jupiter), but hasn't had much success since his last promotion. His 5.40 ERA this season is fifth-highest among Southern League starters. Williams had been 0-4 with a 9.50 ERA this month prior to Sunday's outing.

Giants activated 1B Travis Ishikawa from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.

Ishikawa, the hero of last year's NLCS, is now off the Giants' 40-man roster. He had been on the disabled list since the end of spring training with a lower back strain.

Rays third base prospect Richie Shaffer went 4-for-5 with three RBI Sunday in his first game for Triple-A Durham.

A first-round pick out of Clemson in 2012, Shaffer has shown plus power at each of his four minor league stops. That trend continued with two homers Sunday, the 42nd and 43rd of his career. The 24-year-old has plenty of potential but will need to cut down on his strikeouts before reaching the next level. He's already whiffed 49 times in 154 at-bats this season, including 15 punch-outs over his last 10 games.

Brett Lawrie is out of the A's lineup again Monday.

Lawrie hasn't played since Friday, and A's manager Bob Melvin acknowledged Sunday that the 25-year-old is "a little banged up." Max Muncy will handle the hot corner in Monday's afternoon opener against the Tigers.

Athletics activated UTIL Ben Zobrist from the 15-day disabled list.

Zobrist wound up missing just under four weeks following arthroscopic knee surgery. It was initially expected that he would be out until the middle of June. The versatile 33-year-old had batted .240/.304/.400 with one home run, five doubles, eight RBI, and eight runs scored through his first 14 games this season.

Padres first base prospect Cody Decker belted a pair of homers Sunday in a win for Triple-A El Paso.

Decker finished with six RBI, padding his season total to 31. The 28-year-old is fourth in the Pacific Coast League in homers (10), sixth in RBI and seventh in slugging percentage (.581). Decker also posted two homers in six RBI May 8 in a win against Las Vegas. Sunday was Decker's 13th career multi-home run game. He's hitting .304 in May after batting just .229 in April.
