Randal Grichuk (groin) is back in the Cardinals' starting lineup Wednesday against the Reds.

Grichuk missed a couple of games with groin discomfort. He underwent an MRI on Monday and it showed no structural damage. The young slugger is starting in center field and batting seventh in his return to action Wednesday.

Jeremy Guthrie was lit up for eight runs -- seven earned -- over 5 1/3 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.

He yielded 10 hits -- including three home runs -- while walking one, hitting three batters and recording just three strikeouts. It could be the last straw for Guthrie, whose ERA on the season now sits at 5.65. Royals manager Ned Yost will decide by next Tuesday whether to keep Guthrie or Chris Young in the rotation.

Reds RHP prospect Robert Stephenson fanned 10 hitters over eight shutout frames Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Louisville.

It was Stephenson's first double-digit strikeout game since getting promoted to Triple-A on July 3. The 105-pitch outing matched the longest of his minor league career. He's logged an outstanding 2.40 ERA during his five-game unbeaten steak. The 2011 first-round pick has struck out 9.97 hitters per nine innings this season. Stephenson was ranked 46th in MLB.com's most recent prospect rankings.

Brock Holt (knee) is back in the Red Sox' lineup Wednesday.

Holt missed the last two games with a hyperextended left knee. He's at second base and batting leadoff.

Troy Tulowitzki is at shortstop and batting leadoff in his Blue Jays debut Wednesday.

He might be lower in the order if Devon Travis (shoulder) wasn't hurt, but, unfortunately, that's not the case. It's the first time in Tulowitzki's career that he's hit leadoff.

Diamondbacks RHP prospect Carlos Hernandez stretched his scoreless streak to 26 innings Tuesday in a win for Low-A Hillsboro.

He's won each of his last three starts, contributing 25 strikeouts over that span. His last strikeout Tuesday tied Hillsboro's single-season record set by Ben Eckels in 2013. The 21-year-old was recently selected to play in next week's Pioneer-Northwest League All-Star Game in Spokane, Washington.

Red Sox recalled INF Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Acquired earlier this week for Shane Victorino, Rutledge will provide infield depth with Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) and Brock Holt (knee) banged up. He's hit .274/.323/.403 at Triple-A this season.
