Minnesota MLB Gerald Hodges is "pretty confident" that he will be a starter in 2015.

Hodges dished the bit of news to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune after Minnesota's Week 4 preseason game against Tennessee. The third-year linebacker started the final two preseason contests for the Vikings and will look to help the Minnesota D/ST unit that was near the bottom of the NFL in stopping the run last season. Hodges played 14 games and recorded 65 tackles and one interception in 2014.

The Cincinnati Enquirer tabbed the Bengals defensive line as a bright spot after a 9-6 win over Indianapolis in Week 4 of the preseason.

The effort came primarily from Cincinnati backups, as the majority of Bengals starters sat out on Thursday, but the performance is encouraging for a defense looking to improve on their 2014 finish of 20th among NFL teams in stopping the run. The Cincinnati D/ST will be in the streaming conversation as they face the Oakland Raiders in Week 1.

The Baltimore Ravens may look to the pool of players available after weekend roster cuts to find their kick returner for the 2015 season.

CSN Baltimore believes it's possible the Ravens' kick returner isn't currently on their roster. With DB Asa Jackson fumbling twice this preseason on punt returns, Baltimore would be wise to take a hard look at the position after other NFL teams make roster cuts. The Ravens D/ST may be a decent season-long option in fantasy leagues, but likely won't get much from their special teams unit in leagues that offer bonus points for kick/punt returns.

Seahawks waived/injured RB Robert Turbin.

Marshawn Lynch's primary backup the past two seasons, Turbin has an ankle injury that will cost him five weeks, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It sounds like a high ankle sprain, potentially with ligament damage. RapSheet suggests Turbin could be claimed off waivers, though he didn't put anything positive on tape this preseason, decreasing the odds he is. If Turbin is not claimed, he will head to the Seahawks' injured reserve list. The Seahawks will enter the season with Fred Jackson as Lynch's clear-cut backup. They are reportedly shopping Christine Michael in trade talks, and would like to keep UDFA Thomas Rawls.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported the Seahawks are shopping RB Christine Michael.

With Fred Jackson now in the fold and promising rookie Thomas Rawls behind him on the depth chart, Michael is likely viewed as expendable. Inconsistency has always been Michael's modus operandi, and he reportedly was struggling with the same issues in training camp this year. Michael has a ton of natural ability, however, and would be an excellent pickup for a backfield lacking top-end talent. Dallas would be an interesting option.

Eagles waived S Ed Reynolds.

A 2014 fifth-rounder out of Stanford, Reynolds spent all of last season on the Eagles' practice squad. He could be headed there again if he clears waivers.

Raiders will release QB Christian Ponder.

Signed to a one-year, $2.25 million deal in the offseason, Ponder's history with new Raiders OC Bill Musgrave couldn't save him from the chopping block. He was soundly outplayed by Matt McGloin in the preseason. The 12th overall pick in the 2011 draft, 27-year-old Ponder's tendency to play scared and drop his eyes under duress has him on the verge of falling out of the NFL.

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole expects the Seahawks to add a year to hold-out SS Kam Chancellor's contract while giving him more money up front.

In other words, Cole expects the Seahawks to cave. Chancellor has not budged an inch in his hold out and has consistently said he is willing to miss regular season games to get what he wants. With barely more than a week left until the start of the regular season, Seattle is running out of time to get Chancellor in the fold before Week 1.
