NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Giants LG Geoff Schwartz is consulting with a foot specialist following an MRI on his dislocated toe.

Rapoport said, "It does not sound good." Depending on the where the toe is dislocated, Schwartz could miss anywhere from a few weeks to the entire season. Rapoport's comments indicate it is closer to the latter. Rookie Weston Richburg should slot in at left guard with Schwartz sidelined.

Broncos SLB Von Miller (knee) is expected to make his preseason debut against the Texans Saturday.

Miller has been sidelined since tearing his ACL on December 22. He avoided the PUP list at the start of camp, and has been practicing full speed for the last week. He should be good to go Week 1.

The Denver Post's Mike Klis reports Montee Ball (appendectomy) will make his preseason debut against the Texans Saturday.

Ball was cleared for full participation in practice Monday, and returned to 11-on-11 drills during Thursday's practice. He was not expected to make his debut until the fourth preseason game, but recovered faster than anticipated. It's great news for fantasy drafters. We wouldn't expect Ball to handle more than a few carries, but his activity is confirmation Ball has fully recovered. He projects as the clear feature back in Denver's juggernaut attack.

Giants DE Damontre Moore recorded two sacks, a tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery in Friday night's preseason game against the Jets.

Moore now has four sacks this preseason. He is stuck behind veterans Jason Pierre-Paul and Mathias Kiwanuka, but Moore has shown enough to earn a role as a sub-package rusher. Moore is fully recovered from offseason shoulder surgery.

Jimmy Clausen operated as the Bears' No. 3 quarterback in Friday night's preseason game, completing 6-of-9 throws for 36 yards.

He was the only Bears quarterback to lead scoring drives in the 34-6 drubbing, resulting in a pair of late Robbie Gould field goals against Seahawks backups. (Of course, Seattle's backups would start on a team like the Raiders.) Expect Clausen to get a ton of snaps in the exhibition finale as the Bears continue to let him battle Jordan Palmer to back up Jay Cutler. In August, Clausen is a combined 24-of-37 (64.9%) passing for 280 yards (7.6 YPA), two touchdowns and a pick.

Seahawks RB Spencer Ware has nine carries for 28 yards through three preseason games.

He's added two catches for 13 yards. Most troubling for his roster chances, Ware worked behind someone named Demitrius Bronson in Friday's preseason game, as well as Marshawn Lynch, Christine Michael, and Robert Turbin. A 2013 sixth-rounder out of LSU, Ware's odds of making the 53 seem bleak.
Aug 23 - 12:42 PM

Seahawks rookie WR Paul Richardson has five catches for 49 yards on nine targets through three preseason games.

The second-round burner is primarily running with Seattle's second- and third-team offenses, behind Doug Baldwin, Percy Harvin, and Jermaine Kearse. The Seahawks' first-team three-wide set is locked in, but Richardson brings a lid-lifting element the others don't. Expect his role to grow over the course of 2014.

Eagles RB Chris Polk (hamstring) returned to practice Saturday.

Polk has been out since the second day of camp with a partial hamstring tear. In his absence, UDFAs Matthew Tucker and Henry Josey have put in solid performances, pushing Polk squarely onto the roster bubble. A good showing in the fourth preseason game would go a long way in securing Polk's roster status.
