Jacoby Ellsbury left Wednesday's game against the Royals in the first inning after colliding with the wall while making a catch.

Ellsbury was driven to the center field wall on a long drive off the bat of Alcidies Escobar to start the game. While he remained in defensively for the rest of the frame, Aaron Hicks took over for him in center at the top of the second inning. The Yankees will pass along an update as to the exact nature of his injury as the game progresses.

The Dodgers are monitoring Joc Pederson for a possible concussion.

Pederson is not in the lineup against the Cardinals on Wednesday and would be available only in an emergency. He is nursing a sore neck and head after colliding with Yasiel Puig on Tuesday. If he shows no lingering signs of a concussion over the next 24 hours, he could potentially return to the lineup for Thursday evening's contest against the Cardinals.

Jake Lamb went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

Lamb cranked a two-run home run off Jose Quintana with nobody out in the fifth inning. He has been launching the ball out at a torrid pace this month, having crushed six home runs in his last 10 games alone. The 26-year-old third baseman boasts a .287/.381/.587 triple-slash with 13 homers and 40 RBI through 44 games played.

Fernando Rodney walked one in the ninth inning while recording his 12th save of the season in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

Rodney entered proceedings with the Diamondbacks holding an 8-6 lead. While he did ultimately finish up with the save, it was not the cleanest of outings. Both of his first two outs came on hard hit, deep fly balls. With two outs, he then proceeded to walk Melky Cabrera to bring Jose Abreu -- at the time 4-for-4 with a two-run homer -- to the plate as the tying run. He managed to induce a groundout from Abreu to end the game without any run-scoring damage on his line. The veteran closer held a 12.60 ERA at the end of April, but has not surrendered a run in eight May appearances. He is 12-for-14 in save chances overall.
May 24 - 7:05 PM

Jose Abreu went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run and three total RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Abreu fell a triple short of the cycle in this monster showing. He drove in his runs with a no-doubt two-run homer to right which traveled an estimated 441 feet in the sixth inning and an RBI single in the seventh. Through 44 games played, the slugger is working to a .291/.347/.531 triple-slash with 10 homers and 27 RBI. Five of those 10 home runs have come in his last 10 games.

Leury Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Garcia swatted a solo homer off Randall Delgado in the second inning, his sixth of the season. He homered in two of the three games in this series against the Diamondbacks and is now hitting .295/.343/.488 with six homers and 16 RBI across 129 at-bats.
May 24 - 6:51 PM

Randall Delgado allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits over four innings in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

Delgado had been working solely as a reliever prior to drawing the spot start against the White Sox in place of Taijuan Walker (blister). He pitched well enough in his stead, striking out three and walking one on the afternoon. Leury Garcia cracked a solo homer off him in the second inning and one more run came in on a double play in the fourth, but Delgado otherwise kept the White Sox at bay. He finished his outing having thrown 61 pitches (36 strikes). It remains to be seen whether he will be needed for another start before Walker returns to action.
May 24 - 6:47 PM

Jose Quintana was crushed for eight runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Quintana started out the game as sharp as can be, but ran into trouble in the fourth inning, when the Diamondbacks burned him for two runs. Things would unravel to considerably more disturbing degrees in the fifth. The six-run frame started with a two-run homer by Jake Lamb and devolved from there. While Quintana did strike out seven (with no walks), this was a start he will try to forget as soon as possible. It caused his ERA to rise from 3.92 to 4.82. He will look for a more respectable showing in a home start against the Red Sox next time he takes to the mound.
