Jose Berrios struck out eight while allowing two runs over 7 1/3 innings but took the tough loss Sunday against the Mariners.

Berrios and M's starter Mike Leake squared off in a pitching duel featuring two very different styles -- Leake struck out just two while inducing 14 ground ball outs, with the 24-year-old Berrios striking out eight while relying on soft contact to keep the Mariners off the board. In the end, the M's got to Berrios for an extra run in the eighth, saddling him with his fifth loss despite the good showing. Berrios will carry a strong 3.67 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 67/13 K/BB ratio into Friday's start against the Indians.

Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that the club will give Max Muncy a look at second base.

The Dodgers are desperate for consistent offensive production in their lineup, and Muncy is their team leader in RBI for the month of May. It seems unlikely though that he'll see enough action there to become relevant in mixed leagues.

Jordan Zimmermann (shoulder) was rocked in his first minor league rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, allowing seven runs on seven hits in just 2/3 of an inning.

The right-hander also issued two walks in the contest. He's going to need at least a couple more rehab outings before he's deemed ready to return to the Tigers' rotation, and he'll certainly have to prove he can be more effective than he was on Sunday.

Mike Leake allowed a lone run on four hits over eight innings in Sunday's win over the Twins.

It was a vintage Leake start, if such a thing exists for a guy with a career 4.04 ERA, as he worked efficiently and pumped strikes while inducing 14 ground ball outs. He didn't walk anyone for the third straight start and has walked just 16 batters in 11 starts this year. The win improved him to 5-3 with a 4.93 ERA overall, and he'll look to stay rolling Friday against the Rays.

Jean Segura (head) is expected to avoid the disabled list and could return to the Mariners' lineup as early as Monday.

Segura will work out prior to Monday's game to see how he's feeling, but it sounds like he should be ready to go. He suffered the head injury when he was kicked in the head during Saturday's game against the Twins.

Jason Hammel struck out 10 Rangers over 5 1/3 scoreless innings Sunday, leading the Royals to a 5-3 victory.

Hammel scattered four hits and two walks while compiling his highest single-game strikeout total since June 1, 2015. He somewhat surprisingly cruised over the Cardinals his last time out, giving him two above-average outings in a row after he'd posted a 6.28 ERA through his first nine starts this year. What's the real Hammel? The answer is usually somewhere in between, which, unfortunately for fantasy players, doesn't move the needle much on a bad Royals team. Still, it's worth monitoring his start Saturday against the Athletics to see if he can lend some more legitimacy to the act.

Robinson Chirinos went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Royals on Sunday.

In the seventh inning, Chirinos launched an Eric Stout offering to straight-away center, his seventh homer of the year. It was his first homer this month, though, after he hit six in April. If he regains the power aspect of his offensive game, Chirinos is in the conversation in two-catcher leagues, but as it is it's hard to recommend rostering a guy hitting .191/.279/.390, even at catcher.

Kevin Gausman was lit up for six hits and seven runs in 2 2/3 innings Sunday in the Orioles’ loss to Tampa Bay.

The right-hander registered two walks and a single strikeout while throwing 43 of his 74 pitches for strikes. Gausman labored through a disastrous third inning, allowing five hits, six runs and two free passes in the frame. He also hit a batter while yielding a two-run double to Brad Miller, who had homered off him earlier. Gausman will take a three-start winless streak into his next outing Friday versus the Yankees. He yielded two runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Bombers earlier this year.
