Daniel Nava (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Class-A Inland Empire on Monday.

Nava is only expected to need a couple of games to get his timing back before he's deemed ready to rejoin the Angels. His return could force Rafael Ortega back to Triple-A.

George Kontos (elbow) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session without issue on Sunday.

It's the second time over the weekend that the right-hander has been able to throw without any problems. He should be sent out on a minor league rehab assignment soon and is on track to rejoin the Giants bullpen in early May.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus confirmed Sunday that despite his extreme ineffectiveness, Mike Pelfrey will remain a part of the Tigers rotation for the time being.

Pelfrey, who was inked to a head-scratching two-year, $16 million contract in the offseason, owns a 5.68 ERA and cringe-inducing 2.05 WHIP over 25 1/3 innings in his first five starts. With Michael Fulmer having pitched well in his first start, it may only be a matter of time before Pelfrey is squeezed out of a rotation spot. Keep an eye on his situation when Shane Greene and/or Daniel Norris are deemed ready to return.

Eric Hosmer smashed his fourth home run of the season on Sunday, leading the Royals to a 4-1 victory over the Mariners in Seattle.

Hosmer's blast off Vidal Nuno capped off the game's scoring in the eighth inning. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the day 2-for-4. He has been mighty impressive through the first month of the 2016 campaign, slashing .333/.374/.538 with four long balls and nine RBI.
May 1 - 8:27 PM

Ian Kennedy picked up his third victory of the season on Sunday, punching out six over five-plus innings of one-run ball against the Mariners.

Kennedy scattered four hits on the day while walking two. The only damage against him came on an RBI single by Chris Iannetta in the sixth inning. Kennedy has been as advertised thus far for the Royals, registering a 2.61 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 29/11 K/BB ratio across 31 innings. He'll look to continue that dominance when he does battle against the Indians in Cleveland on Saturday.
May 1 - 8:25 PM

Leonys Martin's early-season struggles continued in Sunday's loss to the Royals as he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

The hitless afternoon drops Martin down to an abysmal .176/.262/.378 on the season. If he doesn't turn things around soon, he could be in jeopardy of losing most of his playing time in the Mariners' outfield.
May 1 - 8:21 PM

Taijuan Walker was dealt his first loss of the 2016 season on Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits over five innings against the Royals.

Walker struck out four and didn't walk a batter on the afternoon. The Royals didn't mount any major rallies against him, simply scratching out single runs in each of the second, third and fourth innings. He'll carry a pristine 1.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 29/3 K/BB ratio into Friday's start against the Astros in Houston.
May 1 - 8:18 PM

Nolan Arenado blasted his 11th home run of the season on Sunday, powering the Rockies to a 6-3 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Arenado got the Rockies on the board with an RBI single as part of a three-run rally in the fourth inning, then tagged Randall Delgado for a two-run bomb in the seventh inning to put the game on ice. He's squarely in the conversation for early-season MVP honors in the National League, slashing .305/.371/.695 with 11 homers and 25 RBI while playing a Gold Glove caliber third base.
