Andrew McCutchen is out of the Giants' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon against the Marlins.

Hunter Pence will start in left field and bat seventh, with Mac Williamson in right field and hitting sixth. This appears to be a routine day of rest for McCutchen.

Buster Posey is getting the day off Wednesday.

Nick Hundley will start at catcher and bat fifth versus Marlins right-hander Jose Urena. This looks to be a routine day of rest for Posey, who's slashing .289/.362/.430 with five home runs and 25 RBI through 60 games.

Paul DeJong (finger) will visit a specialist late next week and hopes to be cleared to face live pitching.

A minor league rehab assignment could follow soon after if DeJong does get that clearance, which would put him on track to to return to the Cardinals' active roster sometime in early July. The 24-year-old shortstop began hitting off a tee last weekend. He has been on the disabled list since May 18 with a fractured left hand. Yairo Munoz and Greg Garcia will continue to share shortstop duties for St. Louis until DeJong is ready. Munoz is getting the bulk of the starts.

Tyler Lyons (elbow) has begun a throwing program.

It sounds like Lyons might resume mound work sometime next week, putting him on track to return to the Cardinals' bullpen in early-to-mid July. The left-hander has been on the disabled list since June 8 with an elbow sprain.
Jun 20 - 1:34 PM

Luke Gregerson (shoulder, knee) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session this weekend.

Gregerson was placed on the disabled list May 16 with a right shoulder impingement and then underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to repair his meniscus a few weeks later. The hope is that he'll be ready to return to the Cardinals' bullpen sometime in mid-July. Gregerson, 34, holds an ugly 8.64 ERA in 12 appearances this season, but he could be immediately plugged back into a high-leverage setup role given the current state of the Cardinals' relief corps. He signed a two-year, $11 million contract with St. Louis over the winter.
Jun 20 - 1:32 PM

Chase Utley (thumb) is set to come off the disabled list during the Dodgers' upcoming weekend series against the Mets.

It could happen as early as Friday. Utley has been sidelined since May 30 because of a left thumb strain. The veteran infielder is batting just .216/.302/.324 with one home run in 126 plate appearances this year for Los Angeles.
Jun 20 - 1:07 PM

Khris Davis is not in the A's starting lineup Wednesday afternoon in San Diego.

There is no DH available for the matinee game at Petco Park and Chad Pinder will get the start in left field and bat second versus Padres left-hander Joey Lucchesi. Davis has an .850 OPS with 20 home runs in 64 games this year.
Jun 20 - 1:05 PM

Cardinals GM Michael Girsch said Wednesday that Adam Wainwright (elbow) is still weeks away from beginning a minor league rehab assignment.

Wainwright isn't even expected to begin throwing until the beginning of July, so he can probably ruled out until sometime in August. The veteran right-hander has been limited to four starts this season due to hamstring and elbow issues. He's a non-factor in fantasy leagues at this point in his career.
