Twins acquired LHP Jaime Garcia, C Anthony Recker and cash considerations from the Braves in exchange for RHP Huascar Ynoa.

The two sides tentatively agreed to a trade last week, but it was nixed due to physical concerns with Nick Burdi (elbow), who had been slated to go to Atlanta in the deal. Garcia has been up-and-down this season, posting a 4.30 ERA and 85/41 K/BB ratio over 113 innings, but he should offer Minnesota more reliable work at the back of their rotation.

Joel Sherman of New York Post reports that the Braves "have gotten more involved" in trade talks for Sonny Gray.

The Braves aren't really viewed as a legit playoff contender this season, but they've been connected to Gray dating back to the offseason as they seek to obtain a cost-controlled starter. They certainly have the pieces in their farm system to get something done. Sherman notes that the Yankees and Brewers are viewed as the "strongest pursuers" over Gray at this point, with the Astros "still trying, too." The Mariners, Twins and Indians have also been connected to Gray.

J.T. Riddle (shoulder) remained out of the Marlins' lineup Monday.

He's missed five straight games with tendinitis in his right shoulder. Miguel Rojas will handle shortstop again.
Jul 24 - 5:01 PM

Gerardo Parra (calf) is back in the Rockies' lineup Monday.

Parra didn't start the last two games in part due to a bruised right calf. Ian Desmond is sitting out while the red-hot Parra handles left field.

Will Harris (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list late this week.

Harris will begin a rehab assignment somewhere on Wednesday and should need only one or two appearances before rejoining the Astros' bullpen. He's missed the last week and a half with inflammation in his pitching shoulder.

Rangers recalled C Brett Nicholas from Triple-A Round Rock.

Nicholas will provide catching depth with Robinson Chirinos (ankle) banged up. He's hit a robust .311/.353/.469 with seven homers for Round Rock this season.

Rangers placed RHP Tyson Ross on the 10-day disabled list with a blister on his right index finger.

Ross may very well have a blister, but the Rangers could be making up a phantom injury here in order to get the righty and his 7.52 ERA out of the rotation. It's unclear who will take his rotation spot, but Austin Bibens-Dirkx is a candidate and A.J. Griffin (intercostal) is nearing a return.

Matt Carpenter (quad) is not in the Cardinals' lineup Monday.

Carpenter was lifted from Sunday's game with a tight right quad. The injury appears to be a day-to-day situation for the time being. Luke Voit is getting a start in his place, and Paul DeJong has moved up to the No. 3 spot in the lineup with Dexter Fowler shifting up to his old leadoff spot. With Paul DeJong slotting up to the three spot in the order, he becomes a viable punt play across the industry. Antonio Senzatela isn't a sieve by any means, as he's held hitters to a 0.75 HR/9 rate on the road this season (3 in 36 IP), but he's still not an arm we necessarily need to avoid with value plays. DeJong owns a very solid .367 ISO at home against RHP this season.
