Yasmani Grandal is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.
He'll sit against left-hander Matt Moore. A.J. Ellis will start behind the dish and catch Scott Kazmir.
Corey Seager is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Rays.
He's sitting against southpaw Matt Moore. Charlie Culberson will start at shortstop and bat ninth.
Joc Pederson is in the starting lineup against the Rays on Tuesday.
It's a rare start against a lefty for Pederson, as he'll bat eighth versus Matt Moore. Enrique Hernandez will serve as the DH and bat leadoff while Trayce Thompson will play left.
Tigers activated C James McCann from the 15-day disabled list.
McCann, out since April 11 with a sprained ankle, went 2-for-15 with two RBI during a minor league rehab stint. Jarrod Saltalamacchia has swung the bat well during his absence, but he'll presumably shift into a diminished role now that McCann is healthy.
Orioles prospect right-hander Hunter Harvey underwent hernia surgery on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
Harvey is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. It's another tough break for the 21-year-old who missed the entire 2015 season with elbow issues. He still has huge upside, but he'll need to stay on the field to realize it. That just hasn't happened recently.
Rangers designated C Chris Gimenez for assignment.
The move clears a spot for the newly-acquired Bobby Wilson on the 40-man roster. Gimenez was recently sent on a minor league rehab assignment after he began the season on the disabled list with an infection in his ankle.
Tigers acquired LHP Chad Bell from the Rangers for C Bobby Wilson.
The 27-year-old Bell had a 4.58 ERA and 118/42 K/BB ratio in 141 1/3 innings at the Double-A level last season. He has pitched well in Triple-A this season between the rotation and the bullpen, but he's mostly organizational depth.
Rangers acquired C Bobby Wilson from the Tigers for LHP Chad Bell.
The Rangers already acquired Bryan Holaday from the Tigers back in March and now they have added another catcher to the mix as they try to get by without Robinson Chirinos. The 33-year-old Wilson is a .203/.266/.299 hitter in the majors and can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
