Marcus Semien homered twice and drove in four runs in Tuesday's Cactus League win over the Giants.

Not a bad way to kick off his Oakland career. Semien took World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner deep to center field in the first inning, singled in a run in the second and again went deep to center field in the fifth. He also tried to steal a base but was thrown out. Some scouts question whether Semien will be able to hit at the big league level, but there's no doubt he possesses an intriguing power/speed combo.

Adam Duvall singled and launched a solo homer in Tuesday's Cactus League loss to the Athletics.

The longball came in the second innings off of left-hander Rudy Owens. Duvall, 26, didn't do much in his limited time with the Giants last season, but he's consistently displayed big power in the minors. He's hoping to earn an Opening Day bench spot.

Brennan Boesch finished 2-for-2 with an RBI as the Reds routed the Indians 10-0 in Tuesday afternoon's Cactus League opener.

Boesch singled up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring Chris Dominguez for the Reds' eighth run of the game. Boesch played right field in this one. He'll see action at all three outfield spots and first base this spring as he tries to make a case for an Opening Day roster spot.

Carlos Santana went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in the Indians' loss to the Reds on Tuesday in Arizona.

Santana got ahold of a pitch in the first inning and sent into deep right-center field, but Billy Hamilton was able to track it down. Santana will try to avoid getting off to slow start in 2015 after batting just .159/.327/.301 over his first 50 games of the 2014 regular season. He went on to register an .872 OPS between the beginning of June and end of September.

Jason Marquis tossed two scoreless innings Tuesday in the Reds' Cactus League opener versus the Indians.

Marquis fanned three Reds hitters and did not allow a hit, but he did issue to walks. The 36-year-old right-hander is doubtful to crack the Reds' Opening Day roster. He signed a non-guaranteed minor league contract with Cincinnati in late January.
Mar 3 - 6:23 PM

Zach McAllister allowed one run in two innings Tuesday in the Indians' Cactus League opener against the Reds.

He gave up three hits, but walked none and struck out three. McAllister is currently fighting for one of the final spots in the Indians' rotation, but he also has experience as a reliever so he should be on the Opening day roster no matter what.
Mar 3 - 6:20 PM

Orioles signed RHP Pedro Beato to a minor league contract.

He was not invited to spring training. Beato's time in the majors the last three seasons has been minimal, as he posted a 4.10 ERA with 45 strikeouts over 48 1/3 frames at Triple-A with the Braves in 2014. He's just a depth guy.
Mar 3 - 6:11 PM

Rusney Castillo felt some pain in his left side in his final at-bat of Tuesday's spring game.

Castillo will be examined by Red Sox doctors on Wednesday morning. The 27-year-old Cuban is battling Mookie Betts for the starting center field job. Betts played in the early game Tuesday against Northeastern University and Castillo played the late-afternoon tilt versus Boston College. A spring trade of Shane Victorino could open regular playing time for both Castillo and Betts.
