Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports that the Astros are recalling J.D. Davis.

Davis has batted a ridiculous .415/.473/.654 over 130 at-bats since his demotion to Triple-A Fresno last month. With Evan Gattis' struggles, Davis could be given a long look in the Astros' designated hitter spot. He's worth scooping up in deeper fantasy leagues.

Rangers optioned RHP Ariel Jurado to Double-A Frisco.

Jurado surrendered four runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings against the White Sox on Saturday in his major league debut. He was making a spot start in place of Cole Hamels (neck), who should be ready to go this week.

Rangers activated RHP Chris Martin from the 10-day disabled list.

Martin missed three weeks of action with right forearm irritation. He'll return to a middle relief role.

Matt Wieters (hamstring) hopes to be activated from the disabled list in about six weeks.

Wieters' left hamstring surgery -- which was to remove a tendon -- wasn't as invasive as initially expected. Still, it could be a push for him to return before the All-Star break.

Clayton Kershaw (biceps) threw a bullpen session Sunday.

Kershaw will throw one more bullpen session before returning to game action. It's possible that game will be a rehab start, but he could also be thrust back into the Dodgers' rotation as soon as next weekend. Kershaw has been sidelined since May 1 with left biceps tendinitis.

Marcell Ozuna is absent from the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Ozuna is in a 0-for-22 funk at the plate, so he'll get a day off to clear his head. Tyler O'Neill is in left field and also in the cleanup spot in his place.
May 20 - 11:40 AM

Salvador Perez is not in the Royals' lineup Sunday.

He's just getting some rest. Drew Butera will do the catching.
May 20 - 11:38 AM

Max Muncy is starting at first base and batting leadoff for the Dodgers in Sunday's game against he Nationals.

Muncy homered off of Max Scherzer Saturday and will now get a chance against Stephen Strasburg. He's started five of the last six games, as the Dodgers have been willing to use Cody Bellinger in center field to get Muncy's bat in the lineup.
